KEstep - yes but it's a duel return so I'm not sure I will get enough volume. Also I sometimes dial the return pump back. I'm running an Iwaki 100 from the basement to the first floor. It's complete overkill but I get to vary the return rate to give my livestock and coral some different water flow. If I run direct from one of the return lines I am worried that I may cause flux within the skimmer and not get the most constant / efficient skimming. Also if I attach a larger skimmer pump I can T that and also feed my ozone reactor. However if the level will remain constant that may be the better choice. I can just figure another means of feeding the ozone reactor.

My understanding is that most are using Maxi 12s for feed. I hate to put that in my sump (heat issues). Anyone use an Iwaki 20 with gate valve?
You could "t" your return. Also mj1200 don't use that much power.

The barb fitting on the input is sized for 3/4" ID vinyl tubing.

maybe,, but mine is a 3/4 hole with a reducer to 1/2 inch 90 then a 1/2 union then a 1/2 ball valve. So thats why I say it's a 1/2 correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe they made my EX-3 wrong.

really? go online to their store and use your order confirmation email number
I ordered mine on sunday and it shipped yesterday via ups and is being delivered tomorrow.

Nope, not shipped yet, simply "ordered". I sent them an email this morning to see if they had an estimated ship date, but I have not gotten a reply. We'll see if it changes tonight or not.

Their customer service wasn't good with me,but you'll will get the skimmer, when they are ready. Yes i would rate their customer service on a 1 to 10 scale a 4 with lots of room for improvement. But most people ordering thru petorama are getting their skimmer faster than ORCA, as this thread shows. But for the price i will wait again.

interesting...keep checking it...mine only said "ordered" for a couple of hours and then all of a sudden it was shipped...really early on yesterday.. I was shocked since I had only ordered sunday afternoon....I was expecting it to take weeks from what I kept reading on here. I did order it two day though, since it was just a few more dollars, so that may be the difference if you didn't...not sure...of course it will probably show up broken since it is shipping so fast lol

If you read the last few pages then you would see they have done much better as of late. No one has reported a broken one shipped by Petorama, and it shouldnt take long if they are in stock.

My Ex-1 is doing good :). I have 100gph running through it now on my 50g tank, which DID bring the water level up a bit. It still isnt at the bayonet fitting, but it seems to be skimming really well where it is and no valve on the air line.

for those of you that own the ex-3s how long have you had them and how much did they cost you? i know theprice just went up and i was wondering what it was before. the reason i ask is i am interested in buying a used one from a local reefer. he says hes had it a few years and he caulked it to keep it from leaking... here are the pics:

he wants $375 is that a good price?

They sell for $700 new. I would see if they will go down some on the price as the caulking job is pretty crappy and it's a few years old. It's a good deal even if they dont go down on the price.

That is a great price if all the pumps work. I believe they cost $650 before the price increase.

You would mostly likely need about 200gph to get it at the correct level. But running it with only 100gph you can feed it a lot more air!

how often do the impellers need to be changed? if the pumps are a few years old and the impellers crap out im gunna be ****ed lol

Well it cost $140 per pump. So unless all 3 pumps go out, you are still getting a good deal.

Wouldnt worry yet. Mine didnt ship the first business day after I ordered but it did ship the second business day. They'll probably get it sent out tomorrow.

Maybe some of the barbs are just different than others. Mine has a 1/2" union and 1/2" gate valve as well. But there is a 3/4" barb to 1/2" PVC insert fitting glued into the ball valve so I had to use 3/4" ID hose for hook-up. Or I could have used 1/2" vinyl tubing and then used an adapter barb but it was just a neater install going with all 3/4" from the pump out to the skimmer in.

Looks like it did ship today and it may have been upgraded to next day air!!! We'll see if it actually shows up tomorrow or not.

Very cool ... that's exactly what they did for me. All I did was email them and very nicely requested an estimated shipping date or tracking number if it was already shipped. A couple hours later I get an email saying I will have the skimmer tomorrow. They shipped next day air!

Didnt I tell somebody this story already? :)

Question on the DAS EX-1 have a drain on the collection cup? It was hard to tell from the pictures..
