I have a 210 gallon with only 70 pounds of rock, a 12 inch queen angel and I had a pinnatus batfish. The Pinnatus disapeered somehow I never found it, It didnt jump my glass is sealed, and its not in the sump or overflow. So then 2 weeks later I bought a 13 inch blue angel to replace it, About.. 2-3 days later it came down with ich, Everything went ballistic. 2.0 ppm nitrites 50ppm nitrates, my PH dropped suddenly. Is my batfish dead in the sand somewhere?

Yes. You need 250 lbs of rock. Your chances of success with that size fish are not good. 5" ought to be max. Start smaller and let them grow to fit. Batfish are not easy under any circumstance.

he doesnt need 250lbs of live rock, lets not get ahead of ourselves here.. spread your rock across the bottom of your tank so there are small mounds of rock throughout the whole tank and it will give a more home feeling for your angels. the reason for this is because angels and many other fish in the wild swim above rock structures and go into them for shelter.. its a common misconception in the reefing world that you need a lot of live rock. its not true. as i said previously, most fish swim above the rock structures in the open ocean, having to much live rock does not allow them to do this and could possibly make them feel trapped. once again its up to you but i would think about that. and yes i would look for a dead fish and do water changes throughout the week.
