Evening folks,

This is the repost of my original thread. Want to make sure the new date is clear - not that I don't welcome visitors a week early. :p

When: Sunday, December 8, Noon-3PM
Where: thefuz's in Norwalk
33 Alvin Drive
Norwalk, CT 06850

As before, anyone wishing to donate frags to the club, please post here (photos a huge plus!) so we can continue to drum up some buzz. From the original thread, looks like we'll have some great goodies on offer.

See you soon!

Cool! Just moved to the next weekend - maybe more people can make this instead.

Fragging today! Will see everyone then. :)

Sweet Steve! I can't wait to see what you are bringing to the raffle! Everything I got is doing great from our last meeting! I'm really getting into this SPS thing now....

Well, that sounded like a compliment! Thanks pal. You motivated me to frag some stuff I didn't even intend to frag. Hopefully will generate a little interest...

Pale (but bright) green trumpets. Two multi-headed frags
IMG_3674_edited-1.jpg

In the above pic, you can see the mother colony off to the right. Not bright whitish green.

Orange Crush Acan Echinata, two heads - NOT
IMG_2590_edited-1.jpg

You can see the original in this pic, upper right corner. It really is an orange crush acan, but it turned blue. Used to be orange. Go figure. Also this a KILLER coral. Will send out sweepers several inches long, and KILL anything it touches. So handle with care.

1" ORA Green Pocillopora Damicornis
IMG_4141_edited-3.jpg

This is an old pic. It's the one on the left.

3" - small fist sized - ORA Green Birdsnest
IMG_4078_edited-2.jpg

That pic IS the colony that I'm donating.

2" FHI Limited Edition California Tort (originally from our own RMTA)
IMG_4163_edited-1.jpg

This is a BEAUTIFUL coral. The pic my mother colony. Here's what Mr Coral wants for a tiny piece.

1.5" Atlantis Aquarium Limeade (also from RMTA)
IMG_3196_edited-3.jpg

That's the only pic I have from when the colony was tiny. The frag is twice that size. And Atlantis does not seem to sell this anymore. So get it while you can...

1/2" Forest Fire Digitata
forest_fire_digitata2.jpg

The above pic is from John Coppolino's (copps) thread of the mother colony.

1" Original $500 Efflo
500_efflo_large_frag.jpg

The above pic is also from Copps. I broke my heart to frag this thing. It's a SWEET coral.

1" CITR Red Dragon ! ! !
red_dragon2.jpg

That pic is also from Copps, that I got it from. This is a frag of my frag from that colony. But its not pink like the pic. It's dark red.

Sorry for the mishmash of pics. :)

Oops! Before anyone get's TOO excited, I need to post a disclaimer...

I would normally say my tank is Uber healthy, and pest free. But it does appear to have a pathogen that is slowly taking out my brains. I bought a brain from Divers Den in June, and it arrived STN'ing. Since the introduction of that coral into my tank, every brain (you can work out the $math$ on 10 brains) has STN'ed. It slowly spread from one to the next over months, until eventually they all had it. Even one that I've for about 5 years - a favorite.

So what does this mean to someone taking one of these frags? IMO nothing if you don't have brain corals. It's been since June, and ALL my other corals are happy as clams. You are welcome to come see for yourself. Love showing off the tank. Plus - before I realized how pervasive this pathogen was - I've sold and given away plenty of frags since June, with no complaints. IMO this is very much brain coral specific.

But if you have brain corals, it's a risk I would not take, were I in your shoes. There will be plenty of other frags being raffled.

De nada. I've got other LPS too - even some "brain like" LPS. Everything is happy as a clam. It's just brains that are the problem. But figured I should mention it just in case...

At first. To the first cases. But did not help. Plus I do not think it's anything topical (like red bugs), but a viral or bacterial infection specific to brain corals.

Hmm, that's unfortunate. Sorry that happened to your tank! One of my oldest and most beloved corals is a brain so I'll have to steer clear.

I'm sorry to hear that, and glad I mentioned it... but enough of brains!

Who else is coming to this shindig? ;)
