Does anyone know how often Dendrophyllia actually capture larger prey in the wild?
Lately I have been feeding my Dendronephthya a fine blend of rotifers, cyclops, krill, mixed with bacteria, Prodibio Reef Booster, FM ultra clam, FM ultra min D, FM ultra-pac... enough to cloud the water for a few minutes... and I've noticed my Dendrophyllia feeding on tiny particles as well. They just keep moving each tentacle one at a time towards their mouth as opposed to when they capture a larger item and engulf the whole thing with most of their tentacles. Just wondering if they could actually survive long term this way with the occasional (1-2x/month) spot feeding. No I don't plan to do that, as I love spot feeding, and I have to feed lots of fish anyways, but was just curious about how they survive in nature.
