devils leather coral shedding skin eaten by fish

Just curious, but about once a month the large devils leather coral sheds its "skin" and the fish can't wait to eat it once it starts coming off. Especially my yellow tang goes after it quite aggressively. The clownfish will eat some of it as well.

Just curious if there is any nutritional value to it or why they seem to like it?

Fish are just stupid...
There is likely some nutritional value in the tissue..
Did you try looking for the nutritional fact chart on the bottom or backside of the coral? It should be there :p

I put a good, fresh piece of Nori in the tank, but the yellow-tang prefers to go after the leather coral skin instead (???). By tomorrow all the skin will be gone -- eaten by the tang and clownfish.
