I can't get over the price....this is now a must have and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Well if they did pair them and spawn them, there would be some new pattern of barring of these fish as the fish being sold would be brothers/sisters.Would like to see what would happen relisticly if a brother/sister fish spawned.Mis bars or no bars...lol
To speculate as to whether the Mc's that were sent to the states are related or not is completely futile. Ryan (the original breeder) collected a few spawning pairs, so he would be the only person to know what was sent out.
As for misbars, breeders feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they are due to poor nutrition/water quality not genetics when dealing with normally barred broodstock.
Once again, kudos to KK at LA and Ryan for making this beautiful species available to the hobbiest.
he did but very limited quantities.
you should be able to get captive bred latz nowadays in the US though.
Who has succesfully bred and raised latz in the US?
All of this talk reminds me, was he ever successful in breeding Latz?
Not to break the RC non-commerical rules, if you are around the breeder circles, you would know. The hint is that the mid sized hatchery on display at the last MACNA & located in inland US.
I wasnt able to attend that last MACNA, and dont know the scret handshake to the "inner circle breeder club". Can you PM me, then? I'm just curious who's breeding them.
I noticed some other fish going up on Divers Den that were marked as coming from SA so is it safe to assume that is where these came from?
No - These McCulloch's were bred at the DR.'s Wisconsin facility. They kept a pair that they received from Ryan. Either this was the 2nd pair that was listed last year, that didnt sell, or they received other pairs as well. They have a link (listed above) showing the pair in their tank.
