i just bought a diamond watchment and he is going crazy in my tank. I know the are sandsifters but he is digging holes under every rock and stirring up all the water. Will he eventually pick a spot. Will my water be permantenly cloudy from him spitting sand or will he eventually clean up the sand. anybody have one of these guys

lol. You can at least see your diamond watchman goby. I haven't seen mine since the day he went into the display. Almost two months now I think. Maybe he's in fish heaven already :p

i have a mix of sugar sized sand and reef grade with a Valenciennea strigata sand sifter goby, my water is clear. he tends to stick near his cave under one piece of LR, but does roam the tank occassionally.

He'll clean up the sand in no time, and the cloudiness will no longer be a problem. My diamond did settle into one spot and stayed there for about 6 months. Then one night he moved to a completely different spot and stayed there for a good year. Then he up and died.

Keep an eye on any low-sitting corals so that he doesn't bury them.

What about in a tank with higher flow? I have over 30x flow and looking for more and wondering how well a sand sifter would do for me, or if it would cause me more problems with drifting sand? My sandbed just doesn't look like I want it to, some small areas of growth of stuff here and there, even with the flow. I have a fighting conch in there, but he doesn't cover the area near fast enough. I'm just a little gun shy of putting one in there and then really regretting it.
