Diary of 30g Cube SPS tank

Looks like any true addict, um i mean reefers house.

Reefing, there is a fine line between hobby and addiction.....

(I crossed it long ago myself)

I tried it out a little today and the aqualift pump that is supposed to keep the vacum works really well so i dont have any worries now that i know that. Iv gotten the overflow to sump finished and my return setup is missing a 3' peice of tubing( got the wrong size at the hardware store!), so when i get that tomorrow i will post pics of the system and have it running.
stay tuned.

The system is working great.Im really glad i went with the mag 950, the flow im getting is awesome. Ill post some pics tomorrow. I think im going to go ahead and get some fish for the tank. I think im about ready for that step now. I was thinking about 3 anthias( 1 male 2 females, i guess you are supposed to have more females than males)? I really like the orange/red ones.
any suggestions?

Hi Garrett. OYur tank looks amazing. Keep up the great work.

I have one question for you. I am setting up my onw 35g cube and I am considering sps. What kind of lighting do you use?

Make sure you clean that aqualifter weekly with vinegar for 1 hour. I had it fail due to clogging and had a small problem while away using a cpr overflow. also make sure the output of the aqualifter is submersed.

I just got done Building a DIY refugium out of a 5g Bucket. I did it because i have very high flow in the sump and i would like to have a low flow area for the macroalgae to be put. Im going to use a maxi-jet 1200 for my pump into the bucket from the sump and it has a custom built overflow i made to return the water back into the sump.
check it out when its finished which i almost am.

The key is to look at the output flow from the aqualifter. If it decreases clean it. Also change out the tubing every couple of months. Warm RO will somewhat work but calcium can build up on the inside so vinegar is best. Also another source of problem is the nipple on the CPR overflow can get debis clogged in it as well. Use a small drill bit to periodically remove any debris.

Im still cycling in the tank and i havnt added anything else yet. i have been very busy on my other tanks so i have put this one off for a little while, besides in about 2 weeks i have to bucket off the water so i can move the tank out about 5 feet because i am having a window replaced behind it....!!!. Kinda sucks but after that ,livestock is going in.
