Did my Anemone explode??

I went to work yesterday and my anemone was bigger than I have ever seen it, it was also as tall as I have ever seen it. I figured it may be looking for food and thought i'd feed it when i got home from work.

I get home from work and I have a extremely cloudy tank. Very strange since my tank is always so clear. I start trying to figure out what the problem is and I find little pieces of green everywhere. It was my bubble tip but it has been massacred. It was everywhere. Little tiny pieces of it in all parts of my tank. I immediately do a 30% water change and begin trying to medicate the water with Prime and Buffer. Quick info (the night before I tested water and the results were PH: 8.2 Amm: 0 Nitrate: 0 and Nitrite: 0) What could have happened to it? It looks like it just exploded. I thought maybe the powerhead got it, but after looking at it, the bottom suction has a protective cap so that things like that wont happen.

So I got my turkey baster and sucked up the remaining pieces of him and today (3 days later) did a new water test and the results were exactly the same. Can anyone give any advice on my situation?

fish will be the only victims and if they are alive still your probably ok. coral and inverts should be fine. make sure you have carbon running. clean all equipment and sponges

Can we see a few pictures of the mechanics in your tank

There are times that the anemone will start to fill full of water to change it's boyancy. This change will allow it to float to a new area and reattach.

If it did float away, it may have gone into a power head or other items in your tank. which is why I ask about a picture of all the items/hoses/devices you have.

Remember the skin is really thin and does not take a lot to get hurt.

Are you sure the power-head didn't puree the thing? I have never heard of an anemone just exploding - perhaps the aquatic equivalent of spontaneous human combustion.

My female maroon clown has ripped off pieces of BTAs and LTAs.

Anemone can inflate their foot as they go walking. I know that Magnifica just inflate their foot let go and go sailing sometime when the local condition is bad. I think you BTA either go sailing into the PH, or walk to the PH. It did not exploded, the propeller got it.
