Did phosguard kill my toadstool?

OK so it closed up 2 weeks ago, and has since turned brown on top like a film of algae. if i cut the top off my toadstool will it come back or is it dead all the way through? it trust me its not pretty!


PS this wind sucks right now!! i hope my fence is standing in the morning and no trees land on it...wow!

My toadstool did that once - thought it was dead, almost tossed it... but then read an article somewhere that leathers "shed" occassionally, so I left it. After a while it sloughed its "skin" and came back twice the size it was originally. Who knew!

i agree but this is slightly different i believe, there is what is like a crust of brown algae on top, some white spots, and possibly one edge flaked away when i touched it with my pointer stick a little while ago. the stalk is still fairly firm and the top seems to be, but its never looked like this even when it was "shedding"

I have a Toad stool that's 18 in tall with a head about 14 in across . Mine did that and I wanted to cry I thought it was dead. But I found out that sometimes they shed and sometimes they sulk I was like what's that but was then told they get mad and pout . It took 2 months and it was even bigger than before so hold in there sounds like it will make it

Yeah, mine just went through that cycle, the white blotches and all...took about 4-6 wks to recover fully...it's awesome now.

lets hope so.....should i dose iodine or anything?? i read that helps with softies a little

Be Careful with Iodine it is a very strong powerful additive and a little goes a long way.
