Digital Aquatics Archon Owners Thread

CRS.. now that I am thinking this, none of the Beta testers had AI lights. I dont believe the AI programming migrated over to the archon. Just PWM and analog dimming. I will let DA know of this and get a better answer for you. Sorry for the confusion.

Personally, I have been considering a pair of AI 26's to replace my Reef Radiance but have not pulled the trigger due to price.

Thanks for the update. Maybe there is a way to tie them directly to the Archon but that goes beyond my skill level. I can follow directions but that's where it ends for me. I hope this can be resolved quickly as I don't want to loose coral.

I need help using virtual outputs to control a high water condition in my display. I had this set up with my RKE but can't seem to replicate it in the Archon. I have a float switch that trips to shut down the return pump if the water level gets too high in the display. I don't want the return pump to restart until I press a switch to restart the pump. On the RKE I used an output as a virtual output to keep the return pump off until I manually pushed the switch button to restart it. There doesn't appear to be AND OR conditions for alarms on the Archon. How do I program it to function as described?

Thanks.

Do you have a high sump float switch? if so if the return is off does this float switch trigger. If so you can use this along with a switch to keep the pump off. if the switch is open when pump is running you will need a push button switch is normally closed and put it in series with this switch. If the switch is closed when running you will need a normally open push burron switch and parallel the float switch. I have the overfull switch in my sump to turn off the skimmer. Just set the high sump alarm for the return pump. The push button swith will momentarily disable the switch allowing the pump to start. You will have to hold the switch until the water level drops below the trigger point.

I have questions regarding alarms in the Archon. I have a high water float switch in my display and want to program an alarm to shut down the return switch if the float is triggered. The float is set to Normally Open so I set the alarm to trip at 0 or closed. When I activated the alarm for the return pump it shut down without the status of the float switch changing. And it does the same thing if I set the trip point to 1. I thought there might be some left over programming on a power bar I used under my RKE system so I did an interrupted update on that bar to clear it but the results with the alarm were the same. Any suggestions?

I would also like to know how to clear the alarm log. I click on the Clear button on the Alarms tab but nothing clears.

Thanks for your help.

Put in .5 and had the same result. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to refresh or restart the unit? Do I need to check the box below the setpoint for above or below?

If you want open as active alarm it would be above. If closed is active alarm it would be below. The switch input is 0 for closed and 1 or 100 for open. This depends on the module. Most are 1. That is the reason for using .5 as setpoint. It will work for either.

That works. I downloaded the manual from DA's website and it references the Trip When Low box for pH/Temp adjustments. I didn't realize it also pertained to the float switches. I took the manual too literally. Thanks for the help.

On another topic, I can't remember the math for setting a ramp timer. If I want my LED's to be on from 9:00AM to 10:00PM with a 180 minute ramp time how do I set up the timer?

OK. I can answer that. Ramp starts at 9am. You want them to zero at 10p. 3 hours is the ramp. So start at 9am, 10 hour on timer is what you need. This gives u a 3 hour down ramp as it will go down when ramp expires. But, if u keep a power supplied to fixture the entire time on with a separate controlled outlet, keep that in for the 13 hours.

timer on time = total time - ramp time
timer off time = ramp time + 1min (at least) I usually double the ramp time as long as it doesn't go near 24hrs total.

Just received notice of a software update. I loaded it and now I can't log into the Archon. What did I do wrong and how can I correct it?

It appears I can't get the Archon to power off completely. After loading the update I clicked on Shutdown then pulled the power from the Archon. The amber light didn't go out and I can't log into the system. I didn't change the login from the factory so I should be able to use that to login again. I get an error in Firefox saying the connection can't be established to the Archon server.

Tried the reset button on the Archon but no access. Orange light won't go out when power supply is disconnected. Has anyone else had this issue?
