Digital Aquatics Archon Owners Thread

Good morning! So software is 1.09.41 and hardware is 1.08.10. It just says firmware is "up to date." pH probe is new. The dip switch is down for the pH1 port, and the box in webserver for 'set port to ORP mode' is not checked. Raw data is -1987 to -1985 in both the 7 and 10 calibration fluid. The pH reads 14.63 (which I'm fairly certain does not exist). I do have an SL1 on my old system (which I have not switched over yet) and the pH probe functions on that one (albeit not calibrated). It reads 7.84 which is better than 14.63.

Other info that may, or may not prove useful - both the pH port and the ORP port both show a reading even though there is no probe attached to either. I've never had an ORP attached - I wonder if it is some kind of ghost from in house testing before it was shipped?

It is normal to have some kind of reading even without a probe. Those raw data readings are too close. How long did you leave the probe in each cal solution?

Sounds like a bum ph probe if the readings never change. Have you tried hooking your old probe to it? We know that one works on the sl1

the new probe works on the SL1 unit. Just not on the Archon. If I connect the SL1 to the Archon, will it let me calibrate the probe?
I left them in the solutions for well over 30 min.

all of the modules can be calibrated through the Archon. Have you tried the probe on both ports?

Also, how long are you waiting for a reading once you put the probe in the solution?

Sorry to be super needy - but in what order do I hook up my stuff? I have a PC4, SL1 (with switches), PC4. Is it better to go direct to the head unit or to daisy chain?
I haven't tried the other port, but if I can get the SL1 hooked up, I'll just leave it there. Wiring will be cleaner.

The connections on the archon are similar to the hub, daisy chained together, so you can go either way. It is a matter of personal preference.

I personally have my power bars daisy chained together on one bus port, then my system modules together on another.

So, the gyre can be connected and operated on any controller brand? Or do you have to use theirs? And this is apples to oranges. The archon is a complete system controller. The gyre is a water mover.

We were showing off the Gyre/Icecap package on the Archon recently at Reef a Palooza. Even on a small 32 gallon tank, we could get a very nice wave, with out over powering the corals that were in the tank.

It required a cable to be made, but something we can do on an as needed basis.

Okay - seems I have to do a shutdown after adding a new module for it to see it (duh).

keywords - Archon won't see or find new module (I've been using google search a lot).

I'm planning on getting a gyre for my new 75. If I got an IceCap module, would your guys walk me through how to connect it to the Archon? I'm assuming I can make a cable to interface with a 0-10v port?

that is most likely how it will need to happen.

from reading a bit, the interface coralvue made is for the Apex, so one will just need to make a cable from the 0-10v port on archon to this box. ill bet the plug ends are the ones used on the apex VDM modules.

If you want to be able to run both forward and reverse, it will require 2 x 0-10v ports.

We should be able to help with the cable.
