I HAVE A 1800 LITER SYSTEM OF SALT WATER FISH IN A FISH STORE AND ALL THE SYSTEM IS RUNNING WITH 20'000 L/H PUMP, AQUAMEDIC TWIN 5000 AND 200MG OZONISER WITH ORP CONTROLLER.

WE CHANGE 5-10% WATER WEEKLY.

WE IMPORT FISH FROM SINGAPORE, PHILIPINS AND BALI AND WANTED TO KNOW WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO KEEP THE FISH HEALTY BEFORE WE SELL THEM.

WE DO NOT QUARNTINE FISH IN THE SHOP BUT SELLING THEM ON THE SECOND DAY OR WHEN THEY START TO EAT.

WANT TO KEEP THEM AS HEALTHY AS WE CAN FOR ME AND MY CLIENTS.

I HAVE FORMALIN AND COPPER AVAILABLE ,AP MEDICATIONS AND ALL TYPES OF ANTIBIOTICS THAT WE NEED ...

PLEASE WANT TO HEAR AN ANSWER FROM SOMEONE WITH KNOWLEDGE ABOUT MANAGING A FISH STORE OR BIG SYSTEMS ONLY.

What kind of antibiotics do you have? I am building a similar system: 2000 US gallons and wondering the same thing. I heard someone says do a formalin treatment biweekly and also dose some antibiotic weeks to keep the fish healthy. The man I was talking to have a 12000 wholesale facility. All tanks are BB tanks.

i would strongly urge you not to prophylactically dose the fish and tanks with antibiotics. i don't want to even think about the drug resistant bacteria being created at these facilities. maybe the australians have it right in their severe restriction of drugs available to treat fish. i know someone who lost over 1,000 of his stock from one recently acquired fish carrying a super bacteria. he later found out that the breeder of the new fish had routinely used antibiotics on their fry. if humans can develop drug resistant bacterial infections what makes you think that fish can't? anyhow, please don't do it.

FWIW, i have no problem with formalin :) if you had a longer QT period on new fish then copper could be incorporated into that but since your plan is to sell them within a day or two of receipt, i really don't know what you're going to get out of it. you're not "curing" them in the time you're holding them.

THANKS, i have all the antibiotics that u can think of but i dont know how to work with them on a saltwater fish.

could someone instruct me how to deal with antibiotics and when?
i really want to learn more about it.

what is the best way to treat a ill fish in a shop?
i thought to close the overflow of one of the tanks and use only internal filter (most of our tanks contain built in filters too )

what is the recommeded dosage of each antibiotics?
how lond shoud the fish stay in the treated tank?
how can i clean the tank from antibiotics buildups?
should i feed/raise temp/change water in a treated tank?
