ditch the mp40's or fix them?

The bearings are easy to get, Eastern Automation usually has them in stock. If not, Motion Industries can get them as well.
I just replace the pair of bearings in one of my MP10's, cost me $12.

Steve
Do you have a part# and name of manufacturer?
My Mp 10 Es started to get a little louder after 3 years non stop use and I got it used. I believe its the bearings.
Thank you.

Cakeman, what browser runs it best? I must be doing something wrong. I'm using pc with explorer and android. It's only a demo for my android and the vortech maps on pc don't seem to ever do what I want them to do. ..

I have run it with Safari on my MacBook and with Firefox on my old PC. I have used my phone with the App... Not a big fan

From what I was told, they used 2 different size bearings over the years in the MP10, so your best bet is to take it apart and see what size you have.
The one I fixed was a 2011 model, and I believe the part number was 696ZZ.

Ecotech recommends using Chrome as your browser with EcosmartLive

My pump is 2011 model also, do you think it's safe to say it's the same bearing? How many bearings is in one pump one or two?
Sorry to OP, didn't mean to hijack your thread.

I would say you should be all set. There are 2 bearings in each dry side, if you do a google search for MP10 bearing replacment, you'll get a few great tutorials on how to do it.

Meh...I'd go with the wireless Jebao RW-15 wavemaker

Same flow (maybe more) and they are $85 to $95 each. (depending where you shop)

I have an MP40 and it's a great product, but when the fan costs as much as a whole powerhead that can do the same thing, I will just go with the cheaper powerhead.

Unless the magnet is damaged you can fix the wetside for cheap.

If your wetside fails let me know and i'll gladly paypal $90 for your broken pump.

ok so i download chrome and update the reeflink and then it looses connection and wont reconnect... why does ecosmart stink so bad? what am i doing wrong?

i think im going to sell all these crap ecotech products..... 3000 dollars invested and they are still pieces of junk.

Good luck with that. I own just about every pump except the awesome looking Gyre and each have their problems. If you have bearing noise in a dry side that was new to you and did not fall in water then odds are it's an alignment issue and you need to go over the instructions for spacing and alignment again. I have two MP40's and one was whining bad but was fixed with a spacer adjustment and slight realignment on the glass.

It's the nature of having the motor on the outside, the alignment is up to you and miss-alignment will create stress and tend to cause early failure.

Based on previous posts in this thread, it seems like the OP dropped the VorTech into an aquarium and now it isn't working properly and is experiencing issues with EcoSmart Live and connection to the ReefLink.

It sounds like you might have gotten your pump working again? Either way, I'd encourage you to contact us using the information in my signature and we'd be happy to help you get everything up and running. You've obviously invested a lot of money into our products and the last thing we want you to experience is frustration and grief, regardless of who is at fault.

We look forward to hearing from you!
