DIY acrylic tank build

i think thats whats it called...did some research and i came up with the same name.

common name is Branching Flower Pot Coral

thanks

The calm is a Tridacna maxima.

The coral is an alveopora. Two coral species the goniopora and the alveopora are commonly called flower port corals . Both appear in branching or non branching forms. The difference is in the number of tentacles. The alveopora has 12. The goniopora has 24. Both are hard to keep long term due to nutritional needs that are unmet in most non specialized aquariums. . The alveopora is generally a bit more hardy than the goniopora.

Got a paired up "black vest" true perc finally. no more fish killing each other. they are so good together one doesnt leave the other side for more than 2 seconds and always all over each other

Thanks, if you look closely, the shrimp is only has 4 legs. 2 is ripped off by the sun coral which the shrimp rest ever so close to everyday. *******

PM replied =)

The shrimp is actually missing 2 legs. that stupid shrimp is always going to close to the sun coral and get its feelers and legs caught in the tentacle.

major update...bought new bulbs to replace the craptastic bulbs from my fixture

its more blue/purple than before. both picture are taken with the same white balance

besides the lights, i also did some upgrades to my air skimmer. elongated the skimmer body, added a tube to go over the limewood. this draws in water which is separate from the water exiting the skimmer.

besides lighting and skimmer upgrades, i also went and bout some new corals today. all of them are zoas, bought it off a local reefer who grows and frags zoas. theres 4 different kinds of zoas, but i guess theres too many orders and zoas to keep track off, he gave me 2 of the same zoas. contacted him so we'll be doing some exchanging soon

a few pictures just to show the zoas
