DFason,

"Stu - I just called LEDsupply and they acted like I was a moron. Could you let us know what the name is of these optics? "

Stu, "I got some new optics in from etg tech today."

Stu, "For those optics: anna@etgtech.com"

I will try to get the part numbers from the bag when I get home.

Stu

I contacted Anna and she sent me a datasheet, and gave a price - $1.75 per. I replied with a question (the datasheet LL01CR-DFxxL-Mx.pdf is not clear on what all the variables for the part number are). The part number is of the form LL01CR‐DFxxL‐Mx. The first 'xx' is for the degree angle, but I am not clear on what the trailing 'x' means. I also asked if there are qty discounts.

I just talked to Anna too. They have a minimum order of $75 + shipping. I ordered $75 worth of XP optics in 40 and 60 degree's. She only charged me 1.25 per piece.

Hope this helps everyone out!

-Dave

P.S - Thanks Stu!

P.S. I wouldnt mind if you told anna at etgtech that I sent you ;-)

They are laying out some custom LED MCPCBs for me very cheap.
They sent the optics as samples so I can get my layout right.

Their prices are better than cutters and custom layouts are VERY reasonable for the MCPCBs (in quantity).

Thank you for the part number. I will be calling Anna tomorrow to place my order for my LEDs and will be including those optics. I'm sure she'll appreciate me having the part number since I'm still clueless when it comes to ordering this stuff. I'll make sure to mention that you send me

der_wille_zur_macht, I have been contemplating this for over a week now and cant come to a good conclusion, I am hoping you can help...

The tank I am building for is a 60g cube (24x24x24) and I cant make up my mind on what size heat sink and how many led's I should use. It is open top so i can raise them to any height. any insight would be appreciated

Their prices for what are cheaper? Custom work?

I'd probably shoot for 48 LEDs and use two ~8" x 18" heatsinks, just space the LEDs evenly across them. I'd use medium optics and 12 - 16" mounting height, unless you wanted higher - then use tighter optics.

Hey just an FYI I just got off the phone with the guy at cdiweb about the eln6048d drivers I ordered last night as there website showed a back order of 5 days, although I read here it would be more like mid may. He said meanwell just confirmed with them yesterday they will not arrive In there Denver warehouse till 7/7/10. As these are purchased from in stock vendors they may quickly become are to come by. Looks like I may have to cancel this order and pay an extra 20 each to get in a reasonable time.

Dimming Question

Will the apex be able to dim 12 meanwell drivers? 6 on different channels ?

The Apex can dim the D Meanwells. You may have to buy an additional component (aquasurf), if you want to dim all 6 channels separately. I do not have an Apex yet, so I am not sure if it can dim 2 or 4 channels with the basic setup. I think it can handle 4.

What I meant was does the apex have enought power in the dimming chanels to make 6 meanwells dim at the same time. I thougjt I saw somewhere that the apex could only handle 4 meanwells. But then it could have been another controller.

ok , I gotta admit I zoned out somewhere between pages 115 and page 127. I am hooking up two meanwells, planning to dim with a pot. I was going to try 24 LEDS on a small tank, and I bought a couple extra just in case. This led (hahah) me to ponder: If I run them at 500mA, can I light up 13 or 14 in series per meanwell?
