HOLY COW

HOLY COW

It is late but I wanted to post this before I went to bed.

I just had total success, and I mean this thing pumps well.

I have 2 maxijet 600's in my tank and I stumbled across this particular thread. So I headed over to the hobby store to get some parts today after our group had it's meeting. Got everything I thought I would need and I was spot on.

After reading this thread, I found alot of awsome info, but one thing I noticed was a lack of pictures for the DIY impared so I completely documented my progress.

I will get the post up tomorrow after church sometime. I am quite excited about it.

This thing is pumping so well, I am not sure I want to do the other maxi. I am afraid it may be to much flow for my tank.

Keep your eyes out tomorrow for my post. I will probably post here in this thread pointing to my post. Only so the next group of people will not have to go through the full 18 pages to get here. No worries though because I will definetly give props to this particular thread..

Whoever came up with this mod deserves a nice pat on the back. Now I dont have to worry about that closed loop I was planning, and this was way cheaper.

Well, Goodnight to all and God bless. See ya tomorrow

well Ive been following this thread for a while and now im sure like everyone else wanhts to know what type of rod should be used and where can I get one, I can get the props and all other parts but no rod. So Titanium, aluminum, or stainless steel

Titanium and 316 Stainless can be purchased from smallparts.com.

316SS should last for about 1 year.
Ti will last forever.

DO NOT use aluminum.

Anyone checked out titanium bicycle spokes from a bike shop to see if they are the right thickness?
-J

They're pretty close to the right size - I believe 14G. But, most bike shops require you to purchase a full set.... about $120.00.

I'm 99% sure the Maxijet stock shafts are 316 ss. I have MJ's 8+ years old with no rust on the shafts. IMO 316 ss will last as long as you need it.

Where can we get this basket?

We need this...

Has anyone been able to get an approximate amount of GPH out of one of these with the 1200? I'm not sure if I should do 2 of these on 55 or a closed loop with 2 outputs run from a Gen-X PCX40.

That screen you see there is made on an RPM... rapid prototyping machine; judging that it's from PSU website, that's probably Sanjay's and he made it in the shop there.
