DML08 115g

How high from the water's surface is the T5's mounted? I have mine 5inches above the water line and I am not sure if this is too low. Thanks.
Hi Sahin, the T5's are about 4'' off the water surface.. :D

nice start..keep us updated...
Thanks, I caught 2 of my fish my 45G so I tossed them in, the one fish I want to get out the most wont get near the trap... :eek2:

added Palmer's, Red Planet and MM colonies to the 115 today.. Man these things were huge in the 45G...

the plan was just to move over a few corals today but one thing lead to the other and Bam... all coral's are in the 115 now, just need to mount them in place, which in it self is another mission......

Really sorry to hear about this. Any ideas as to the reason for the RTN?

new system syndrome... also flow? all the corals I have lost have been in High flow area's, I figured since they were in high flow in my 45g that they can handle it in the 115.. guess not..:hmm2:

Sorry about the coral loss. I bought 5 maricultured colonies - a green milli, pink milli, and 3 other unknown acros... The millis are fine and growing well.

But the other 3 started to STN, one is holding and I havent fragged it, but the other two I had to frag each colony into 5 or 6 frags and only one of each frag look like they are surviving.

My tank was a transfer, or rocks and water etc, so I didnt expect this to happen...:worried: But I put it down to new tank syndrome too...and they fact that they are maricultured etc.

I have some questions for you, are you using balling lite system to dose calcium, Alk etc?

If so, is it simply enough to create the mixtures and work out dosing amounts etc?

I already have a Fauna Marin Triple doser but I am dosing two part Ca + Alk and also some kalk with it.

Hi Sahin,
Yea, I've been dosing FM's Balling light for the past year or so with great results.. Mixing the mixture is real easy, and getting dosing amounts only takes a week or 2 to get dialed in.. here is a quick run down..

Per Liter of water.....

Cal
400g Calcium chloride
5ml Trace B heavy metal
5ml Trace B strontium/barium

Mag
400g Magnesium Chloride

Alk
100g Soduim bicarbonate
5ml Trace B Iodine Flour Complex...

here is the Manual from FM...

Dom, those are very good PAR numbers. You will be able to keep anything in this tank. Even in the far edges/corners you have around 200 PAR - that's enough PAR for many SPS corals.

You done really well in building your retrofit T5 unit. I've seen lower numbers somewhere from other non ATI branded T5 units so well done. :spin1:

How much did this PAR meter cost you?

Hi Sahin, I'm real happy with the Par, better then what I was expecting.. At the very bottom of my rocks where it meets the sand I'm getting 390+.. The par meter belongs to our reef club (CVR) but I think they cost around 300$ or so..
