Do Aussie acros hold their color well?

I've been seeing some awesome colored acro colonies from Australia lately and was wondering how well they hold their color? I almost bought this vivid pink table with blue tips at my local LFS but didn't pull the trigger because I don't know if it would hold its color well. I do have a couple blue and purple acro frags from Australia that have held their color over the past month or so. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I'd be careful with those hyacinthus & cytherea type tables.

They've always been known to RTN for no reason. Smaller ones to do better. This isn't an Aussie thing....more species related.

My LFS got a 6-7" pink and blue (Aussie) not long ago............just beautiful. I gave it a 90% chance of Rtning. Within two weeks he had to hack it all up to save it.

This one was picked up straight from the wholesaler and driven to the store, so no real shipping.

Some of the frags made it ok..............I've got one in my frag tank now. It grew the first two weeks and now has been dormant for months.

Agree with above.
Hit and miss. If they come in extremely colourful, almost zeo coloured, then they generally have had a lot of shipping stress and most will rtn.

The little cluster types coming in amazingly coloured, but rtn through the base within a few weeks.

The loose tables hyacinthus/ cytherea, I have had some success with. The Aussie acros are the best coloured out there, but due to the stress they face, its a high risk territory.

You want to talk to my mate Biggles, he has a lot of experience with Aussie Acros and his tank isn't to shabby either.

Lots of the Aussies come in super healthy and don't skip a beat
Others not so much it's pretty similar hit and miss as with others areas also imo
Same experience here as big e with the hyacinthus so pretty to lose sooo fast

Thanks guys. Perhaps I was naive to believe that hyacinthus from Australia would tend to be more hardy and hold its color better than one from Indo Pacific. I suppose I'm just trying to talk myself into buying the pink table!

I'm not sure if that pink hyacinthius is pink but more of a red when it's thriving. The bright blue growth tips will stay not sure if the vivid pink is more bleach/stress related.

The frag I got from the table mentioned above turned red but the blue growth tips were very bright sky blue.

You might want to wait and see if you can grab one of those Walt Smith Fiji tables. They come in smaller. If you're patient you can get a nice red/pink blue tip colored one. I see them occasionally on Divers Den & they are a lot less pricey.

I recently purchased a strawberry shortcake, aussie wild, so far it's colored up better than when it first came it. Growing fast and is now well established. Can't speak for the other species though.
