well i picked up that red carpet listed in my other thread today. as well as a MJ mod 1200 and a MJ mod 900.

previously my tank was very low flow. had 2 160 gph pwoer sweep powerheads and about 250 gph from my return pump. this flowing in a 40 breeder.

i added and turned on my new ( to me ) modded MJ 900. and it blew up a storm for a while. im wondering if these pumps are over kill for my short ( read 3 foot ) tank...

maybe i should just try and shield the nem some. with some rocks.

im sure they experienced alotta flow in the ocean.

I was told the mj mods were way to strong for a tank with a nem in it. his exact words were ' it'll suck that thing right off the rocks and into the intake, if your going to make one use it in your mix bucket' so im not even sure if im going to do the workshop.

I havent had any experience with them myself though.

I would get a couple of those hydor Koralia's if your on a budget, or maybe 1 tunze nano stream if you want crazy awsome flow :D

well the 900 mod seems just about right. but on the strong end. the problem is. i only have one 900 and one 1200.. so my flow is pertty much.. blowing in one direction all the time. how ever. since its a prop pump. its pushing and pulling at the same time the flow looks pretty chaotic in there but not to much that im worried about it sucking the nem up. but id rather have one on each end so i could use it on a wave maker.

i think the 900 will work fine the 1200 will be about 2600gph and should be on a biger tank

if it works thenyour ok but make sure that anemone is has a good grip of the rock

couldent he get away with just the 900? position it so it bounces off the glass and forward or somthing? I ran only 1 tunze 6100 in my 90 for about two weeks and then decided i needed more flow... but it could work.

what i have right now is the modded 900 blowing long ways across my tank. tried it short ways and it as the flow hit the front wall. it blew down and than slowly pushed all the sand back away from the front wall...
im either going to try and downgrade the 1200 or save it for a future tank

ime haddoni's dont like high flow. In the aquariums i have keep them in they are happiest with lower flow. A decent amount, but nothing direct and nothing making them have to hang on hard to there place of attachement. They will fold up and the base will looked streched out if there is to much flow. The modded 900 is probably good, maybe another unmodded 1200 on the other side to even it out. The modded 12 will be two much and i would remove it.
