Do mini Anemonies require high intensity lighting?

I was wondering if the little mini anemonies still require the same high lighting. I thought that they might be different since they are not/do not get as big, or something to that effect, that they might have different requirements.

After researching, i learned that a regular anemone, might be too big for my 14 gallon tank, so then i looked at other options, and saw a mini carpet anemone.

Just a little specific, the lighting that i have right now includes a 24 watt 10,000K daylight, and a 24 watt Actinic 03. Is that sufficient for it? (Biocube stock lights)

And would it be possible to have two of these in my tank? It seems that they dont get bigger than 2 inches, but im worried about them moving and stinging each other.

Thats only about 2 watts per gallon.I would think that it would be okay. What type of "mini" anemones are they?

stock lights wont work, trust me dont try it, and if u want to upgrade your lighting i suggest the nova extreme pro, not to expensive and it has individual reflectors so you can get almost every type of coral with it

Okay. The mini carpets need just as much light as any other carpet. Now that I look at it again upgrade to like a 150 metal halide mabey the t5 mentioned above?

I dont think that they legs become shorter.BUT you can hang the light.2 inches wont be noticealbe when its hanging!

I have kept a RBTA for over a year in a bio-cube with stock lights and he is as healthy as can be...he hasn't moved for over a year and his color is nice and dark.

I have mini carpets in my stock Biocube 14 and have had them in there since March. They are very happy and multiply like crazy. They have decided to stay in the rock at the top of the tank that is about 6" from the water line. I would not doubt you could keep mini carpets in your 14!

Where did you get your carpets from? My problem right now is that i cant find a site that sells them, and my LFS doesn't know what they are, they are telling me that "no, your wrong, they are just thinking about an anemone that has recently split, thats why it looks small"

I found them from a local reefer. They have split pretty good for me so I have sold them to a lot of locals. They're becoming more common in my neck of the woods.

I did see them on some coral site as "rainbow" mini carpet anemones for $100 each which I think is crazy!

pc lighting works. i keep mine under a 24" coralife atinic bulb (15 or 18 watts??) and splits alot so you shouldnt have a problem with your lighting. They DO NOT require high intesity light like MHs.

I'm not sure this has anything to do with the subject of the thread...

Q: "Can a Porsche 911 GT3 go 175?"
A: "My Ferrari 599 GTB can go 200+"

LOL :)

i wouldnt recomend trying it with stock lighting... either of the 2 fixtures mentioned above would house one and you wouldnt have to worry if you mini nems were going to die due to lack of light
