Do most people like frags mounted or unmounted?

I bought 25 mounts and went through those with sps in like 10 minutes. Most frags 2"-5" I could fill another 100 or so, what is the cheapest way to mount frags for sale, or should I even bother?

Should i not waste my money on the plugs?

I like them mounted. But those plugs are huge. I bought some too and don't like the size and shape of them.

Sent pm.

With having a large tank, I would just frag em and sell em. No need for a frag tank, IMO unless you just want something else to tinker with.

IMO frag plugs are not so much for the consumer as for the producer. With frag plugs you can frag tiny pieces and then let them grow on the plug. Not only that but it makes things SO much easier to arrange (keeps corals from stinging each other, etc) and organizes your frag tank.

I agree. I bought some of those plugs and love them. I keep them in the tank on my toilet to soak and just grab some when I need them.

i have a bunch from boston aqua farms

i also bought the glue that they sell and i am still using it ---also use stuff called IC-GEL

the cheapest way to do it is get rock rubble and mount them on it

(any plug that i buy i put in my waste water on my ro unit)(they leach and cover in algea most of the time)

I hate it when I get frags that are mounted, then that is one more thing I have to find room for some goofy *** plug

I have tons of marble sized LR rubble, I glue the frag to rubble, then aquamend the rubble into my tank exactly where I want it

I should add that I agree 100% with Chelsey's comments about plugs being for the producer and not the consumer, but since iM not a producer, I was only speaking form a consumer POV

I make my own plugs. I use 1:1 mortar mix to crushed coral. I put about 1/3 in. in the bottom of the 6 oz. styrofoam cups. It takes about 20 minutes to fill 100 cups. I cure the plugs for 5 weeks.
You get round, flat plugs. I use them to mount SPS, zoos and even frogspawn frags. The base is wide enough to support larger frags. They are practically free.

I agree with you 100% If I had a frag tank this is how I would do it. makes it easier to place them with out the water moving blowing them around, and still have good flow.

But when I buy them I take them off.

To save your self some money when selling them ask them if they wanted them mounted or unmounted if they don't want them mounted keep the Mount and use it again.

The only problem with that idea is that the majority of the time the frag has already grown onto the plug.
