Do you aerate your topoff water?

I never have. I figure most people probably do. Mine just sits there stagnant in the can. Is there any good reason to?

I mix my saltwater makeup constantly with a powerhead like a Rio2100. No airpump here.

all my topoff is limewater and you NEVER want to aerate kalkwasser

Even if I topped of with RO I don't know of any reason to aerate it.

my auto top off is kalk/vin and never aerated. Sometimes the level sensor kicks in for the RO/DI and that gets no aeration either. It had been a concern with the water standing inside the ro/di chambers and the possibility of Hydrogen Sulfide buildup but, i've never noticed any smell or adverse affects. The only makeup water that does get it is the ro/di i have waiting in Brute containers that i use for weekly water changes.

Any gravity fed topoff that depends on air pressure should not be aerated. You'd let water out by injecting air in.

Never. With skimming and surface agitation, the tank is already well aerated and the small amounts of topoff going in at any onetime won't change much.

No ; I haven't. I do aerate make slatwater. Generally, if the water has no organics in it it doesn't need aeration. A number of salt mixes do; ro/ doesn't.

I wouldn't aerate a solution vinegar diluted in still fully saturated kalkwasser. In fact I wouldn't ever aerate kalkwasser . The OH- from the calcium hydoxide keeps the ph high enough to deep any bacteria at bay. Agitating or aerating kalkwasser will result in more CO2 in the water ,precipitating calcium hydroxide weakening the solution ,dropping the pH and opening the door to bacteria eager to munch on the acetate from the vinegar.

I haven't either.
It would be a net negative,imo, since ro/di water is like a sponge and would suck in contaminants from the air,defeating at least part of the filtration.
