It's very small and it came with one of the live rocks I got to seed my tank...

Not sure if it will survive but just curious.

Thanks!

In a well-balanced reef system it's a bit TOO easy to grow. It's fun to watch, but hard to keep controlled.

Thanks guys, I'll keep an eye on it and report back if I get in trouble.

For me it looks like a Capnella or a Pulsing xenya.

It is I it's own rock, I just placed it on top of a bigger one while I figure out final scape and I get my lights and wave maker going. This was attached to one of the live rocks I'm using to seed my new tank, so I'm expecting the cycle and don't know if this one is going to make it through or not...
Thanks.

Now I found this right next to it...

I assume it's a tiny feather duster, correct? Since the system is new and there's no phyto or anything for that matter, I suppose it won't survive the cycle. Should I remove both things, or just let them be?

Yes just a tiny feather duster. And yeah you can let it be. It's just another filter feeder for the tank. As for the coral it should be fine as well if left in there. Even if you did remove it do you have somewhere else to keep it?

What it's on may be a live clam. And Angel's right: when you have a potentially invasive but pretty species, isolate it on a rock set on the sandbed, to limit its spread.

I put it in my QT which hadn't been used for anything yet, with some water from the tank but with a little lower salinity. It's soon going back to the DT and we'll see how it does. Thanks for your replies!
