Do you want a membership card on time this year? I have a plan

Hi all,

Please email or pm me if you have any changes to your membership for next year or if you plan to not renew.

I want to start early this year to avoid the membership card fiasco we had last year. Some of you that joined this spring still don't have a card.

It costs $30 to print cards, whether we print 1 or 100. This is why I'm not quick to print cards for new members. I try to wait until I have at least 5 or so.

So this year, my plan is to go ahead and order a replacement card for everyone who is a member now. That way, as soon as next year's dues are paid we can send the new card immediately. I'll also order some extras labeled "temporary card". When members join late year, we can put a sticker on the temporary card with their name and they can just turn it back in when their real card comes in.

I'd like to put the order in by June 1 so please let me know your changes (i.e. individual to family or vice versa) by then.

Those who joined after January 1 need only pay 1/2 year dues to renew. All new memberships paid will be considered paid through next year.

If you know of anyone who was thinking of joining, please tell them to join as soon as possible to they can get in on this card order.

Sorry ... Yep ... you're one of the ones who joined this year that I never did cards for.

By the way ... any of you with family memberships, if you don't already have cards for your family members, please be sure to let me know the names of the family members (over 14, please) who should get a card.

I think your temporary card idea is great to save some money in printing costs.

BTW there will be no changes to our account.

re-joined last November and never received a card so having a temporary card is a good idea for sure.

This is another reason why it would be good to have someone else doing membership.



when these cards are finished up at the card company, I also think it would be good to switch back to a simple laminated card that allows us to get them easily whenever we need to.

Have you thought about a "life Membership" or 3 or 5 year membership.

Then you could get the other cards periodically to those that are the long term members or have been members over 2 years etc....

Just a thought.

Technically you should probably be in the same household to be a family membership but it's no big deal to me.

Hey Cathy. Just make my membership an individual membership. I am officially no longer a student and I agree about the family membership being one household, so just switch me over if you don't mind.

Thanks, Tracy. You joined so late and have gotten so little for your membership so far, I wouldn't hold you to it, but normally we've been figuring 1/2 after January 1 (which would give you 1/2 membership fee credit for this year's renewal). pm or email me to discuss if you want to pro-rate.

There haven't been so many new memberships this spring so if any of you who joined after January 1 want to, I'm willing to work out a proration.

Thanks for the "keep it the same" replies, too. That's what I'm doing for everyone who is currently a member unless I hear otherwise.

I think permanent high quality cards with removable/ replaceable stickers to update status would make the most sense.
