Does anyone dose vodka or sugar?

could be christtie, but from what I have read, this dosing actually add more beneficial bacteria strands. You could be onto something, considering this tank is lit with a 250 watt halide, due to increased water clarity and the powerful lighting, perhaps my corals are getting too much light. I also dose phyto 2 times per week, as I have a clam in the tank. Again, the low nutrient system allows for me to heavily feed, including the phyto which I forgot to mention in the previous post. SPS corals typically are a bit finicky when added to a tank which is not established/ thriving. Most sps hobbyists reccomend not adding sps to the tank until quarter size spot of corraline algae appear on the glass or rocks in the tank. I rushed this process, and do feel that some of my losses are a direct result of just that. All other non sps corals have thrived, multiplied, and colored up nicely, and the sps in the tank now, are growing/ encrusting. I will wait and see what happens, but as far a driving nutrients low, I feel the vodka/ sugar dosing truly helps if done so slowly, and ramping up over time.

thank you so much for your input, definately makes me feel more confident about trying out this system. thanks, will keep ya updated.
