In the beginning of Nov. I posted on this forum as to what would be a good 72" T5 light fixture. Most said the Aquatinic Constellation 14 bulb fixture. So I went to web site and checked on price approx. $645.00. Talked to husband and was going to purchase after Christmas. Today I go and look at it and the same fixture is $949.00. Thats almost $300.00 increase in 20 days. It seems like highway robbery to me!!!!!!!! I mean come on -materials could not have rose 30%-or am I wrong.

thanks for input or suggestions on another brand of light fixture.

Yea, they have made some seriously rediculous price increases here lately. I no longer recommend them. Retrofit.........will save you hundreds.

Yes, I need to do some studying on Retrofit-as I read other posts on how much money it can save.
thanks jolene

I believe the price increased on November 5th or there abouts. Unfortunately, with other lighthood companies, you would need to get 2x 3ft fixtures.

sounds like a BEFORE christmas jump to me. You know two diff ppl working saying hey its almost XMAS lets make a HUGE profit off these by jumping up the price. You know ppl are gonna buy these for the loved ones.

thats illegal

$950 and you still have to buy 14 bulbs? That seems like the price with bulbs. I would double check with them.

clayspst-nice tank pictures-I may have to end up going MH-it may be cheaper in the long run.
sjm817-I wish $950.00 was the price with bulbs, but I double checked and it is without bulbs!!

glad to know I'm not the only one that thinks its high priced!!
thanks jolene

Right now I know nothing about "retrofit". Have read in other threads people doing it, but I never understood about it. I think it is where you take an old fixture and turn it into a different one?? Am I even close??

thanks jolene

So no need for a fixture? That would save tons of money, although if you can't buy it, I do not think it is an option for my talents.

I found the paper I wrote exact prices on and for the price increase. Nov. 10th fixture was $684.95, and same store Nov. 30th same fixture $949.95===$265.00 increase. Not a very good Christmas sale IMO.

I think Aquactinics probably made a BIG mistake increasing prices right before Christmas, they probably should have waited until after the New Years as I can't imagine how many sales they'll loose with a 30% price increase like this? Well, back to looking more seriously at the SLS Teklights. From what I'm told, as long as you don't use the acrylic shield, the passive cooling will do just fine.

I looked back at my notes, the price increase took place Nov 12th and with the price increase, during the first 2 weeks, they offered free AquaZ bulbs with their fixtures, but who wants those cheap lousy bulbs anyways.
