Does your SKIMMER run better when cup is CLEAN or DIRTY?

cup collects skimmate and shouldn't affect performance-

it's the neck and body interior surfaces that are critical.
Clean neck is crucial.

With a Beckett driven skimmer (like mine) you MUST keep the injector clean or skimmer performance will be radically impaired.

Yeah, sorry, I meant the neck.

I thought mine was running better after I cleaned it- I just wanted to be sure I wasn't imagining it. Do you guys clean it daily, or?

Thanks!

Clean, but broken in is when mine runs best. It seems that right after you clean the riser the bubbles break before they can condense any skimmate on top of the column, but after a few hours when the neck has been "recoated" with a little slime the head is more stable. Maybe it's just me but it seems like 12-36/48 hours out is when I get the best skimmate production rate.

One of these days I'm going to make a self cleaning head to keep the neck clean like this

To keep from having to do this

haha do as I DO ? lol you know i dont do anything by the book

yea clean neck is when it works best, i empty my cup and clean teh neck once or twice a week

This is an equipment item that's ripe for dirt simple DIY - a disco ball motor, fiberglass or acrylic shaft, an old plastic algae scraper or brush, and an acrylic bracket. . .

As Walter said a pure clean neck hurts performance. I have a large Skimmer w a Beckett and its a must to clean every other day but I just use high PSI hot water to clean I scrub the neck bare clean about once a week.

And like Gary said a Beckett style Skimmer injector must be clean as a whistle and cleaned often. My Skimmer will stop producing if the slightest build up happens.

Cleaning a Skimmers is so easy and it really helps performance so why not do it daily if u can.
