Dolomite

hey menard - I was looking for some myself and could not find it - the only thing I could find that was similar was the zeovit magnesium granules that look like large reactor media stones - I just started using them this week in my reactor - I'm sure the dolomite is out there somewhere but I could not find it

Matt, that ZEo. mag. granule, how much do you have to put in the reactor at one time and how long before every granule turn into Muck? unlike dolomite it takes 6 mo. sometimes longer to completly breaks apart ,its hard stuff . Thats what i'm looking for. Thanks

Menard - I am not sure how long it lasts - it is probably more expensive than dolomite I'm sure - the canister states to use 5-10% of calcium reactor medium volume - I have a pretty big reactor and put about half one canister in (that I paid 25$ for) just a few days ago - have not tested yet so not sure if I need to add more or not - like you I do a lot of water changes so only needed a little boost as my Mg levels were only a little low

Everyone , thanks for all the feedback. I,m still gonna search all over the country. In the mean time I,m gonna try that ZEO MAG. This gonna be expensive. back in the 80's a bag of dolomite cost you 8 bucks. Man , what happen to all this good prizes?:(

Progress! just kidding - I think Jim at ultimate reef in plainfield has the zeo stuff if you need it - by the way if you find some dolomite let me know as I might be interested in getting some too

I have seen dolomite in the garden section of some home centers. They use it in potting soil mix and hydroponics. I am assuming this is the same stuff.

Jeff ,do have the tel. # of that garden center in Ohio. Thanks

m... i have a bag i ordered .. dont remeber where. however i hesitated putting it into the reactor as the pieces are not uniform in color ect.. i will try and get by and get you some..

the schwadestone might be workable.. would want to know though where is is stored and how ect.

well they have it outside and inside probably the biggest selection of stone in the area they have a huge yard and if its stone im sure they can get it iof they dont have it i got alot of stone for my yard from them. dolomite is a natural stone it actual occurs here in illinios to its just a form of limestone a higher end type

The only problem w/ this type of dolomite it aint pure . The color has to be bone white w/o any other impurities stored in it like other metals. The ones you see at the garden center sometimes, I would not put that stuff in my reactor. PEACE

menard give them a call they might be able to help you out they should have sources for most types of stone they should be able to steer you in the direction of were you can get it
