Lets not get ahead of ourselves people...:)

This thread has given me a whole new outlook on the club. Ill be keeping my fingers crossed.

Kinda goes along the line at the time trying to fix something that wasnt broke. Now its very broke. I think the board should have an executive meeting and someone should go see Les. Not to get off track here but i certainly hope that some of the commercial interests by members of the board dont come into play on deciding whether or not to go back to Les.
One thing the board should take into account is how many of the older club members can no longer make meetings. I speak for myself here and also seems Larry is in the same predicament. Thats the main reason i havent renewed my membership. Its also my understanding that a bunch of older members no longer can attend. This would be as good time to right a wrong and also allow for the membership to have an input into the decision making process.

I'm sure whatever the board decides to do, it'll be good for the club.

As much as I'd love to see it back in the studio, I respect their decision.

I, like the others, have not gone to a meeting for some of the same reasons. It wasn't totally clear as to when the last meeting was and I was going to try going to donate coral.

As an old member (and potential renewing member), it would be nice to have this ironed out. I miss some of you guys... :sad2:

Cheers,

I have faith in the board as well and trust they will come to the right decision.

I do sort of wonder why so many people who I considered regulars when I was attending meetings a year ago can't attend anymore, and what we can do to correct this. As some of the people above saying they haven't been to a meeting in sometime, are some very knowledgeable people that I'd love to have at meetings again.

To be totally honest, Friday night is inconvenient, but I could have made a lot more than the two meetings I attended since the move to Dowling. Most of the meetings I missed were missed by choice.

I have a few ideas if the board is interested in hearing them.

I have no doubt that they (the board) are aware of this thread, and following it.
It would be nice to have someone that was elected to a position of authority within the club respond here, I'd like to know what they're thinking about the subject.

I just got back from 10 days in the Netherlands and Germany and it is actively being discussed among all BOD members, and as Bill said, patience please.
Thanks.

Thank you Joe,
Knowing that you are at least discussing this means a lot.

I hope the trip was a good one! :D

Sure she counts. She also cant speak for the whole board. Up till today she was the only board member that posted.
IMO this is an opportunity for the board to listen to the desires of some members current and former. Its up to them to do whats best for the club so ill leave it in there hands. As the saying goes "good things come to those who wait" :)

Welcome Back Joe you know we all want to see pictures! :)

Friday evening will possibly be a better choice than Saturday afternoon, especially in the summer time or the weather is good.

Brooklyn Aquarium Club has always been on the Friday evening, and has always had good attendence. I was on their last meeting, the content was really suck because the scheduled speaker Greg Sheimer was cancelled a month ago, and replaced by a speaker (the president of the club) talking nonsense, but the room was packed and I could hardly find a chair to sit down.

Dowling is too far away if the club wants to attract more members from Nassau or Queens.

It's always good if I can go to a store close to the club meeting place to buy (or just look) some fish or corals before or after a meeting. With this in mind, the studio is not a bad choice because Les will be happy to open the store for us.

It's important to have a fixed schedule. For our last club meeting, I checked our web site a month ago and recorded the scheduled meeting 3pm, Saturday on my calender without checking one more time before I went. It took me an hour driving from my house at Great Neck, arrived Dowling by 2:30pm and found nobody. I asked the gate security and at least 3 other school staff, and nobody knew our meeting. I walked through couple possible meeting places in the school, then called Vinny's home without luck because he was picking up the speaker Larry and I did not know his mobile phone number. When I went to the Dowling Library and asked someone to help me check our website and found the meeting was 5pm, it was already 3:45pm.

I have been with the club for one year and attended almost every meeting, but still not smart enough to check our web site for our new schedule before I went. We will definitely have some angry new members going to the meeting at wrong time or wrong room if Dowling can change our schedule or room with a notice less than 2 months prior to our scheduled meeting.
