I'd Like to see your ugly duckling SPS that turned into a swan too! post em!

This one was barely recognizable as a live coral, about half the skeleton was exposed with coraline growing on it and it was a horrible brown color, only blue was on a couple small spots. I was new to SPS when I first got it and figured it would be a good one to practice "reviving" a sick SPS with.

Oh definatley!! I never throw out a brown or any coral that has any sign of life. I've had a few that looked horrible only to recover after 3 to 4 mos time. Most of my corals look terrible after spending 6weeks in my QT. They snap out of it in time if they have a good environment.

Is that my Ausi blue polyp that you got from me? Cut those brown tips off. You will get results with that as well.

I never throw out brown sps, I used to try to nab up as much as I could on the cheap. They never import in brown sps so you never know what you might end up with.

just out of curiosity... you do not actually mean throw living brown coral in the trash?

if so.. why not cart it down to the LFS and give it to them for free?

perhaps i am not used to the lingo around here.. by throwing out...

i also am a bargain hunter and snap up frags that are not on plugs, browned out, and otherwise
need work.

I got a really dark brown frag, first sps in my current tank. It has turned out to be a great looking sps.
Here is a pic from when I got it. Its in the upper left of the tank.

Kind of cool to see a frag change so much. Browned sps amlost always turn into something nice.

Chadfarmer - That's nothing ^^, it used to cover my entire rocks. It's dying back now though. usually 30% of my front glass is cover w/ em.
