Dose or ca reactor?

I've used both and now i'm using Vertex CaRx. initially more $$ for the reactor but, in a long run it will be cheaper. Plus, no need to buy frequent soda ash or A&B and mix do this over and over where CaRx media inside lasts long time.

Calcium about 150ml of brs
Alk about 90

You better check your magnesium, the calcium consumption sounds really off for a 100 gallon. Doesnt hurt to double check in case Mag is low.

I use doser in both my tanks btw. Set and forget. I just test weekly as a safety precausion.

I've been waiting for a used Geo setup, but they get snatched up within hours. Started piecing my own non-geo setup, but with Black Friday coming, I might just get a brand new one.

Everything is growing really fast and so is the clam and its only been here about a month or two

I guess it's just a matter of preference. I started on two part but my tank has so much SPS that grows pretty quick so dosing would have costed more over time. Smalltime suggested a CARX and I bought a used set up. He taught me how to dial it in manually with no controller (I think this is important for everyone that is running one) and then showed me how to set it up with a controller after I got my levels steady. I started keeping SPS in 08 and I got a CARX a little after a year later. I've been running one since. You still have to have 2 part on hand just incase you need to raise you levels due to a very large water change or if your planing an upgrade but you will rarely use it.

I use to feed the reactor with my return pump since its running 24/7 already but now I have to DC pumps in the sump. 1 for the return and the other to feed the manifold for the chiller, CARX, zeovit RX, and fuge.

Dont they have a habit of getting stuck and dumping all the solution and causing a meltdown?

Hahahahah! I dont like argueing much.. so if u want to pm me, i can tell/show you that this doser made by the same factory as a named brand one... down to the motor and head. By understanding how these heads work, you easily figure out why some have "dump" contents in their tanks. Its call a siphon. You are a plumber... I am sure you wont make the same noob mistake. I own two of them, 1 has been used over 2 years, and the other is 3 months old. I like them more than the brand name one because it allows me to calibrate. Same hardware... slightly different sofware. Do a search on this site for more info before you spend your money.

If you decide to go this route, two tips:

Buy direct from Amazon for the extra dead on arrival protection.

Watch the you tube vids and trash the manual written by non english speakers

Sounds like an argument against getting one! I agree about the supposedly name brand not being any better, very disappointed in both.

In my experience they just quit working. I have mine set so it can not gravity feed or siphon.

Lol im not arguing just a question.
Im leaning more towards a dosing system
Tested today alk is at 7.7
Ca at 400
Mag 1350

I agree, but the next one up is too much money for me and most. I test everyweek, so when it quits its time to folk up 62 dollars, not bad!

Its so great that my friends who own the brand name one just buy one for spare parts! The heads and mortors are interchangable. Did i mention its a 4 head unit with a free spare head? Even if you blew up a channel you still have a spare head and extra channel. It was a no brainer for me.

Is there anything i need to make sure i dont do that could cause a catastrophic failure?
