Double Medicine: Can Formalin be used with Copper based med

In it are different treatments for Marine Velvet. Can I use both treatments of Formalin (not in the same day) and the Copper based medicine?

I just did a FW dip (fish is laying on his side and swimming). If he survives this should I use both meds or just stick to one?

Formalin converts Copper+2 to Copper+1 which is highly toxic in even small doses.

I did not know that. So its either one or the other. Hope I picked the best one for this disease.

I have used copper with formalin at the same time and it didn't affect the fish in my Q-tank.

as in didn't do anything at all? or didn't do anything bad? was it affective in treating?

I was treating my powderblue tang for white ick and three weeks later I notice he had black ich and I uesd Quick cure that has fomalin in it and it cured the tang of black ick and copper stays in the Q-tank for 4 weeks at one dose. I had no ill effect. my powderblue tang is clean as a whitsle and is doing great in the display. remember our discussion before I always QT for 6 weeks with copper!

I know some people have succesfully combined copper and formalin treatments, but I don't do it nor do I recommend it. Plus, it is not necessary. Copper works just fine all by itself against marine velvet.

Ok...well this morning the fish was covered with big white spots (most likely ICH right?). I did dose with one drop of Formalin and after 5 hours the spots were gone.

Does my fish have ICH?

Can a fish have both Velvet and ICH?
