You might want to start getting that water ready now, its going to take approximately forever to fill up your tank ;).

 I didn't think about that! :D

Plumbing is coming together very clean! All that planning is paying off! :)

Sketchup is a great program I've decided. One thing it's missing is how to calculate the amount of trips to Home Depot and Lowes it will take to get it done.

UPDATE:

Have to give a big shout out to Nanook (our friendly RC Mod) for this next one. Luckily I have some serious reefer friends in the area. Nanook's system is awesome. If you haven't checked out his build thread it's a must read! Getting to see it in person is a reefer's dream come true.

Nanook generously gave me a piece of horse mat yesterday for my system. Horse mat you ask? Also known as stall mat, it's a thick rubber mat horses stand on in trailers or their stalls. I guess it's an anti-fatigue mat for horses. :) I'm using it for an anti-vibration pad under my Dart pump. It usually comes in 4'x8' sheets in either 1/2" or 3/4" thickness. You can get it at most farm and tractor supply stores. Here's some pics. ;)

Cut to size and under the Dart :)

Good idea...

Good idea...

Does your Dart vibrate????

Just kidding...

Seriously, I was at Tractor Supply yesterday, getting a 100G Rubbermaid for a sump - I noticed that material for sale - a 4x6 sheet was around $35. Does it work?

Thanks for the kind words:) I've been touting the practical uses of horse mat for a long time....it'll even cure your asthma too:D

Looks like a solid setup you have there.

That price sounds about right. I called around my area and they were selling 4x6 for 40 bucks. Nanook purchased a few larger sheets (4x8). Don't know how much he paid though... Nanook uses it all over his system. He has it under sumps, display stands, pumps, you name it. He swears by the stuff. I think it will work great for what I'm using it for.

I'm glad you told us about it. Nanook's thread tends to be a lot of pictures and not a lot of descriptions. I never noticed it before, but it looks interesting.

Hey Nanook - have you ever used it underwater for pump vibration, like a Mag pump? Any toxicity issues?

Did you use teflon tape or teflon paste for the threads on your Dart?

I used RectorSeal T Plus 2 PTFE Enriched Pipe Thread Sealant. So yeah, teflon paste. I emailed Reeflo and asked if they recommended using it, so I know it's an acceptable product to use. It's sticky as all get out but was relatively easy to apply to the pvc adapter. I've actually used it before to seal the supply for a gas range so I had prior experience. I also used it on the valves and threaded nipples on the manifold. Have plenty of paper towels ready, you'll need them. :D

 Don't ask me how I know, but it smells like rubber. :D The setup is getting there, slowly but surely it will see water. I had to raise the pump riser up about 2" so I think I need to build another one with the correct dimensions now that I'm too the plumbing stage. I'm probably going to tackle that this weekend so I can finish the plumbing from the sump to the return pump.

I don't know what it is mixed with, but looks to be mostly rubber. Not sure if I would trust it under water though.

Thanks Dave. That's good enough for me. Still a very nice find and I'm sure one day I'll be needing to buy some in my area for some project.

Hey Marc, I apologize I haven't sent your container back:o It is long overdue now.

I have three of them little carpet anemones now:)

No worries Dave. Whenever. Maybe you can put something tiny in it this fall and send it back when the weather is cooler.

Congrats! I'm glad to hear that. I counted something like 27 in my angled tank, and I've started to give them out to some DFWMAS members via our COOP (coral sharing program). I'd like to see more people with these little guys, to assure their survival. And for free. ;)
