drummereef's 180g in-wall build

Very nice cable management...

WOW... good job!

Thanks worm! :)

I GIVE UP!!!

Hahaha! After watching your cabinetry go in, I give up on woodworking! :D

That looks great! I am thinking of doing the same thing, since my DT is not behind a wall. Drummer are you a PC modder too? I have done similar projects and this looks way eaiser the sleeving a PSU! I love your set up.

Cory

Thanks Cory. :) I'd consider myself a PC dabbler at this point, but I have plans for a new PC build in the future - hopefully by the end of the year. I plan on sleeving the PC too. Lutro0Customs is my sleeving hero. He's the jerk that got me hooked on this stuff!! Ha :D

Man that is sick!

Thanks 110g. Still a work in progress but I'll be sure to update as I get more done. :)

i wanna be i wanna be like Brett

 Not setting the bar very high there Tim.

Thanks for ever growing source of inspiration, can't wait to see the rest of this project. Wire management is fun!

You are welcome Justin, and thank you for the compliments. :) Wire management IS super fun. I really enjoy it, there's something strangely relaxing about sleeving cables. LOL :D

UPDATE:

Made a little more progress... And I figured out how to use my white balance this time. :spin2:

I was wondering how you were going to proceed and then I noticed you ran the cables through the wall and frp.How bout a big pic of the new arrangement and the other side of that wall?I've walked away from trying to copy your set up.It's like trying to keep up with Usain Bolt!

Man oh man...

Brett, your skills and "touch" in tidying stuff up is amazing. Never ever seen such unrelenting dedication to great and clean desing. I wonder what is up your sleeve next.

Looks great Brett!!!!

Thanks iced. :)

You need to clean it up a little. Very messy. :lmao:

Hehe. Still got a ways to go but getting there. :)

Absolutely Ridiculous!!

Ha! Thanks 110g. :)

:D Once I get a little further I'll do another "update" to show how I routed all the wiring. Need to work on the data cables next. ;)

Who agrees? :D

Ha! Coming up! ;)

+1.......time for a FTS Brett......GREAT work!

Thanks tegee. :)

Couple of pics for you...

Picked up a Duncan coral this weekend. Wanted one for a long time, excited it's already opening up. :)

Colors are a little exaggerated but I thought it was a cool pic.

And a FTS from tonight. It's hard to capture the tank's luminescence. There's a nice blue glow from the LED's that I can't seem to replicate in pics. Always looks a little flat in pictures for some reason. Hmmm...

Hey Vlado. I haven't used a scrubber so I can't comment directly on that. I do however know they work if you are willing to put in the effort to build one and maintain it. I can't really think of any negative aspects of an algae refugium, I'm assuming you are referring to the one I have on my system. It's a great place to breed pods and perhaps there's a little nutrient uptake benefit as well. So far so good using the Coral Compulsion Bulb, no complaints yet. The Chaeto is growing under the light, not crazy fast, but it's growing. :)

The main issue on my question, was the big difference between scrubbers and algae refugium. For a big tank like your´s or mine (260g) we should have an algae refugium as big a the hole system for it to work properly, when having a scrubber, if well calculated it´s really small and works twice as good eliminating No3 and Po4. What you did with your algae refugium is amazing, and that´s what one should have if having the proper space to do it.
I can´t do this, space issue, that´s why i´m leaning towards the scrubber.

On other hand, my friend, it´s simply amazing how you keep your hole system. Cleanest system/fish room i have ever seen in my life !!!

Eye for details is allmost obsesive compulsive behaviour LOL

Keep the pictures coming !!

You are the king of clean my friend, so nice looking as always.

Thank you Brett. :) Wish I could say that for the rest of my house. :D

Thanks Vlado. :) I agree, it's really hard to get BIG results with small refugiums on larger systems. I agree that a scrubber could be more effective if you have space limitations. I really don't know how effective even mine in being ~70 gallons. My Chaeto is about the size of a beach ball but it's hard to say how much nutrient uptake it's actually doing since I have had undetectable NO3 for months, even prior to setting up the fuge. I do like looking at it though. And it's turning out to be a fairly decent frag tank too.

Brett, fantastic as always! Well done.

Thanks shaggs. :)

I need to stop opening this thread. But i can't help it! Aaaaaargghhhh!

Haha. Likewise my friend. :D :D

Brett, I may have missed it but did you swap out the ends of the plugs with gray covers too? The part you would actually hold when plugging/unplugging.

I'll take one of those, and one of those and did I say one of those..

Brett, your real measure of success is in how nice your tank looks. And it looks fantastic. The rest is gravy, but you do have some nice looking gravy.
