drummereef's 180g in-wall build

Man I got and 8 Girl, 7 boy, 5 girl, 4 boy. Got them out of the way early. Highschool is gonna be ridiculous, with clothes and wants of them. But wouldn't have it any other way. Mix that with the 4 dogs, 4 cats and a couple tanks, ohh yeah we have a 12 year old rabbit that runs the house. Of course my tanks are all way smaller than your 180, but still hard to find the time. Great build, awesome tank!

Hahaha, you got your hands full! Thanks Reefed. ;)

Do not forget cell phones with gps tracking...

Sorry for the lack of "updates" lately guys. I had some new pics to post but my computer is not cooperating anymore. So I'm putting in an order for some parts this week and going to get a new one built so I can get my digital life in order again. Stay tuned... :)

Haha, my wives been trying to get me to do that for like three years now. Looking forward to the new pics Brett, I also wanna see the garden beds too. I'm gonna need some ideas in that department, LOL

How many wives do you have?

Perhaps they could work together to make the garden?

:lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Ha! I'll post some pics once I have some stuff planted (and when I get my computer up and running LOL). :)

My congratulations on your reef drummereef! Your tank is very inspirational!
I currently have a 40 B reef like you do four years ago and last Christmas I got my 180G. So far I only have the display tank (looooong way too go from now) and I just start planning my next steps.
First I can said that from all the sumps I compare so far, yours are the more beautiful I ever saw, Is it a 75g.? I was contemplate a 90g on my own.
I don't know if I a miss the post somewhere but let me ask you something about your Hardware: If you need to change something what it will be?
I was considering for lights 6 AI- Vega leds or 4 Vegas + 1 Ballast; Skimmer a Precision Marine Bullet One; undecided between a kalwasser or Calcium Reactor, because I'm not planning to overstock the reef, maybe two Volitans an Angler and lots of mixed corals in a bare bottom tank. undecided between MP40's or MP-60's.
I know that you have the Neptune Controller; I was considering the Digital Aquatic. Are you happy with yours? Any advice for an starter? I'm researching as much as I can, right now and following builds like yours.

That can't be a real price??? That is insane.......

I'm sure it's a typo or something... there's no way. But it's funny nonetheless.

That's how we role in AZ. That why we need a garden, so I can feed them all.:lmao:

Playa...

Thank you Caronte. :) The biggest thing I'd change at this point would be NOT using base rock. Or at the very least, using a combination of base rock and quality live rock. I've spent more money trying to fix issues with my base rock I could have easily just spent the extra $$$ on starting with live rock. Yes there's a risk of undesirables but heck, I've had more bubble algae and aiptasia in my "sterile" tank than I ever had in my old-school 40g with circa 1990's Fiji rock. Besides my recent challenges with my Apex I've been happy with it. I would definitely recommend it as far as "reliable" controllers are concerned. ;)

Sorry again for my inactivity guys... I have 1/2 the part for my new computer build and the rest is on the way. Once everything is up and running I'll be able to post some more pics. :)

Brett, what are your thoughts on the refugium led lamp?

I have some spare led parts laying around and was thinking of buying some new LEDs in the spectrum of 450nm and 660nm like the lamp you have rather than using whites. However I don't know of anyone else trying to grow macro under those spectrums.

It's hard to say at this point. I've had so much issue with Dinos and Cyano that I can't pinpoint why my Chaeto won't grow. I had the same issue in my system running a cheapo spiral fluorescent bulb - limited chaeto growth. So I know there's something biological going on that isn't quite right. I recently ran some Seachem Cuprisorb to see if it would get rid of whatever is left in my Marco Rock, but the side effect was more Chaeto recession. LOL. Can't win...

14 days to put a computer together? Let me guess you routed all the wires, zip tied every single wire into bundles, put nylon mesh over each run, added extra cooling, put in a self-cleaning lint trap, installed new lighting in the cabinet, covered everything in shower board and painted all of the edges that could show, right? ;)

Hahaha. Computer is done and running! I've just been really busy the last couple weeks and I've been playing outside as much as I can before it gets too hot. :D I'll post some updates shortly... sorry for the lack of posts lately! :)

I know the feeling. My garden is only half planted my tank is filthy and the rain is not letting me finish the outdoor stuff so that I can spend some time on the wet kids in the house.
