drummereef's 180g in-wall build

Been a long week but Reeflo sent out a temporary replacement for my Baldor Dart. They actually sent me an A.O. Smith Dart as a temporary fix while they look at my Baldor. I will say I'm still impressed by the A.O. Smith but it definitely runs louder and significantly hotter than the Baldor. I'm waiting to hear back from Reeflo on the status of my Baldor. We'll see.... Can't wait to get it back on the system again. :)

Brett where r the pictures man... you need to show us the progress of your tank.. i haven't see anything new yet... i hope you got first in the B at this point.. hahahha :):):) take your time....

Haha, no updates yet. Still waiting for my Dart to come back from Reeflo. I'm thinking I may see it tomorrow but haven't had a confirmation of shipment yet. I might be looking into the lighting situation soon though. :)

On another note, had a little scare with my 40g tonight. Just got back from my folks house. They were seeing water on the floor!!! I think (knock on wood) it was coming from the skimmer. I have a Remora hang-on. I think either water was backing up under the lip or it's leaking on the output somewhere, possibly one of the acrylic joints as failed. I took it off and cleaned up around the tank. Hopefully I won't get a bad report in the morning.... :(

Just wanted you to know how much of a pain in the butt it was to rummage through google's cache to get a picture of you Sump Plumbing Sketch-Up Brett.

RC went down right as I was about to put my Savko order in lol. Hopefully I didn't miss anything on my order. I was literally going through and writing x's on each fitting and valve in your picture to make sure I got it all.

Thanks for the detailed images, hopefully I will get this plumbing done right the first time.

 Sorry for your headache. :D I did the same thing when I placed my first order with Savco. Crossed out every item as I went down the list. Thought I had it all covered but still had to make a couple more orders to get it right. Hopefully you'll have better luck. :)

There were a couple things I couldn't find. The WYE (Looks almost like a T with a sweet) fitting you have that branches the return line to you refugium was one of them. I just ordered a standard T for that. I will only be using the T'd portion to pump water out of the system for water changes though, the return flow to the tank would be closed off during this time.

I bought those true Wyes from Custom Aquatic. FlexPVC also carries them. They are made by Spears Mfg. I added a 45 on the Y arm, so that's what probably looks like a sweep in the pics.

I also meant to ask, did you use sweeps on all the return plumbing? Savco didn't have those either, so I just order 2 45's for each corner... hopefully I'll have enough space for that lol.

Thanks for the heads up on the Wye fitting. If you just added a 45 on their then I can do that NP.

I ended up using 2 45's for all 90 degree turns on my system. I ended up having space to do it on mine. The only true sweep 90 I used was on the suction side of the return pump. It's a Waterway brand fitting from FlexPVC.

I guess I'm not understanding what you mean by adding a "45 on their then I can do that..." (second paragraph). Can you expand on what you are trying to do and I'll see if I can visualize it to help?

I was comparing your comments to the sketch-up, instead of the actual plumbing and confused myself a bit. I thought you had a wye, then a 45 degree fitting on the "To-Refugium" side. Judging by the actual plumbing, you just have a Tee there... which is what I planned on myself.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, my original plan was to put another True Wye with a 45 on the refugium line but opted for a tee. I think I didn't have enough vertical room to go with the Wye if I remember correctly. Either that or I thought it looked stupid or something rather OCD...

Does this thing have corals yet :D

 You know me, I'm more into looking at glass and plastic at the moment. :D

Well Brett... I didn't forget to much from good ol' Savko lol.

I forgot (4) fittings for the manifold, and 1 90 Degree Elbow.

Not bad at all.

I've go the the drains done, and 90 % of the actual manifold. I did a 3/4" Manifold, with ports stepping down to 1/2" each. I just realized I forgot to add a damn ball valve between the sump and the pump though -_-.

That's great Amoore311! What's one more order to Savco right?

Yeah, not gonna lie though... I cheaped out and got the left overs from Home Depot lol.

I didn't want to wait 3-4 days for my order to arrive.

No worries. I got some of my basic fittings at HD and Lowes too. Can't tell you the amount of trips I made over there. The guy in the plumbing department said, "wow you're here more than me!" LOL

Drummereef, you are doing an awesome job on this tank! The thought you put into it is very impressive.

Thanks scaryperson27. I just want to work out all the kinks before I do the 'real' startup. :)

Things are kind of in a stand still while I work out the pump issues. I just received my original Baldor Dart back from Reeflo yesterday. I installed it last night around 11pm and by 2pm today it is leaking again from the exact same spot is was originally leaking from. Needless to say I'm getting very frustrated and fed up with Reeflo. I'm going to call them on Monday morning and see what they are going to do. What's really making me angry is I've paid to ship back 2 Darts now for a pump that never worked from day ONE! Sorry to vent. ;)
