Brett, thats my exact tank. Part of my bubble problem is the return elbow on the top has that little overflow hole in it and it is spitting bubbles into the tank.

Good to know, gradth. I thought the Marineland overflow plumbing was a little shady. That hole is for back siphoning in case of a power outage I'm sure. It really should be drilled into the lockline imo. I'm probably going to make my own dursos.

Your arm chair is facing the wrong way :)

Looking good!

Haha, you're right will! I'll make a note of that. No, I'm planning on a couple of barstools in front of the tank. Maybe a ledge for beverages, we'll see how it goes. :)

Nah, the chair and ottoman is where it is at. I lay on the couch and face the tank and take many, many naps;)

Wow. That pic puts things into perspective. Nice room...

Sorry the basement looks so sketchy right now. :D During this whole tank project we've been slowly remodeling too. Going to get new carpet, put up new doors/trim, and paint soon. I'll take pics as things progress. Whoever did the drywall down there when the basement was finished should have hired a contractor. Nothing a bucket of mud won't fix though. :)

At least I cut the plumbing holes in the right place! :D

I was terrified about this when I did the same. Everything looks great, congrats on the progress!

Oh yeah, all week I was worried about getting the hole placement right. It took all five of us to move it, so I had to get it right the first time. :)

You're right. My tank has the exact same overflow and that hole in the return elbow is to prevent back siphoning. I also thought that the locline should have the whole drilled because even with the whole in the elbow it still was causing too much back siphoning (once nearly causing a flooding!) so I drilled a whole in the locline.

Did you guys glue your pieces together?

I would glue according to durso's diy page. I would not glue the drain/return assembly to the bulkheads. This will allow you to remove them if needed. Just needs to be a snug fit so you don't have any leaks from the overflow. The tee isn't glued to the main pvc standpipe. It allows for subtle height adjustment if needed.

page 7! :smokin:

Yeah,

Don't glue anything inside the overflow. You want to be able to disasmble if you need to! Plus if a fish ever gets in there it is very easy to pull out the dirso & let the water drain to sump & net fish there. Rather than in the overflow with a durso glued in you way!
