DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

Hi Ching, Has your skimmer ever gave problems as its one of the most expensive money can buy. I wonder what it would cost to replace that pump after the guarantee expires. The tank still looking good, your fish guy doing an excellent job.

My skimmer is doing fine.
Well I don't exactly know the price of the pump.
Could be something like US$1000.
Thank you for your kind words.

Bad news...
I got back from airport few hours ago. I didn't have a visa for Thailand. The treaty between Romania and Thailand for no visa for 15 days starts on the 20th of November. I didn't know I need a visa neither the travel agent. I had to postpone my visit to Chingchai with a few days until I don't need a visa. :furious: and :sad2:

Andy

Better late than never.
See you soon. Andy.

Hi Mr.chingchai!

Your new ventralis are really amazing! Wish they can doing well in your wonderful tank.
Ventralis Anthias are my favorite fish, they will be the first inhabitants for my new tank.
Also look forward to get more experiences for this beautiful fish.

Regards!
Pete Hu

Fantastic as always Ching. Are the Ventralis eating yet? I had some a few years ago and they only lasted a couple of days. They are gorgeous fish and very tempting despite their reputation!

Hi Mr. Ching

I am setting up a new tank. I'm follow your set up(please allow me). I want to keep SPS. And I have some question to ask?

1) DT (60l x 36w x 24h rime less already order)what kind/type the light you recommend and how many?
2) Refugium ( I am order later) 72l x 30w x18h I'm use ecosystem mud about 250 pounds. Is that too much? Please allow me copy your sump design.
3)Sump (42l x 30w x 18h already order)
4)Skimmer ( External or Internal)
5)Power head 4 tunze 6305 ( wave box maybe or later)

Thank you Mr. Ching

Best regards

Sammy

Hi Sammy,

Here are the answers:
1. MH400w 20000kx3 (middle) + VHO aquasun 10000kx2 (front and back)
2. Miracle Mud 100 pounds is more than enough
3. Sump is okay
4. Skimmer type is depending on your space
5. More wavemaker is always better
You may check my old tank. The size is almost the same as yours.

Hi Ching Cai,

Can you help me with few question :

1. my montipora attacked with animal like sea slug but it's has a small leg and white color, how to kill this bug?
2. Do you still gave oyester egg to all your coral ?
3. What brand you are using in filter sock ?
4. I see you are using so many wavemaker and wavebox, Do you still have a mud in your subtrate or live rock ? Of course in the little dead spot ?
5. How long from the first time in your dsps tank, your first coral entering your tank ? 3,4 or 5 month ?

My brain coral is now back from bleaching, you are right more lighting. You are really my mentor Ching. Wait for reply.

Thanks a lot Ching Cai

Best regards

Anton

Talking of miracle mud, does it actually work? Lots of people on the forum speak bad about it. I did see the last time me was there you had a fair amount in the refugium.

Hi Ching Chai...what calcium reactor media do you use...also do you still use C-Balance, if I remember correctly you were using it on you last tank !

Hi Anton,

1. That one is called Montipora eating nudibranch

If you can take the coral out, you have to dip it with CoralRX or similar product.
If not, you have to blow it off as often as you can with turkey blaster.

2. Yes, I still dose Oyster Egg twice a week.
3. It is local brand. Nothing special.
4. I have miralcle mud in my refugium. Of course, I can't manage every spot in my tank. So far I see more unwanted algae(the red one). But everything is under contolled.
5. My first group of SPS are introduced 10 months ago.
Cheers,
Chingchai
