DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

Lawrence, Dave, LemonLemon, auem, Scott, Ryan, Mo, Hookup, Tanne.
Thank you for your kind words.

auem. The fish is Peppermint Hogfish (Bodianus masudai).

yes i was mentioning the turbinaria, i had forgot the name so i called it the plate cause its large and round haha
but yeh i think it looks unbalanced in your tank, your structure is so natural, but you have the perfectly angled bright teal round turbinaria just chilling in the middle of the sand. everything about your tank is amazing, yet that coral!
sorry its just my opinion!

patro. No hard feeling at all.
Thank you for your opinion.

For the first six months I thought the turbinaria was an elephant ear mushroom (Rhodactis mussoides). The giant mushroom eats fish so I thouht it was a out of place.

Chingchai, there is no excuse now, you have to get a bigger tank so the green turbinaria fits to scale. This time I want to see a tank that can be viewed from all sides with an observation bar and lounge above the tank. You can always use a bigger clubhouse for all of your reef fanatic friends. The next step is to get us all a chartered flight volume discount with Air Thailand :)

Shawn. Bigger tank means more budget.
Despite fruit business is not so good.
I will never stop dreaming.

So i just read through all 200+ pages. Took me 3 days, to many rockstars and a little of "get off the computer and spend time with me" from the girlfriend... and all i have to say is:

TRULY AMAZING! WOW! and another WOW

great build, thanks for sharing

mil hse. Thanks for your kind words.

Great stuff. What kinds of angular do you have. Did you always have the interruptus pair? Or did you add the female recently? Absolutely love the Hawkfish!!!! Is it always reclusive or does it show it's face from time to time. Trying to locate that fish in the states, and it's been rather difficult. T

I did have trio of Interruptus but male died six months ago. Don't know why.
Those Hawkfish(Plecthanthias) always show up. One of my favorite.

ChingChai, this is truly museum quality my friend. Your evolution in such an incredibly short period of time is an achievement in itself. There is no real comparison to anything I have seen. Your accomplishment is truly unique in this hobby and as such deserves recognition from your peers. This latest videography is waaaay beyond tank of the month. From my team to yours, we give you a ten out of ten!!!!

Peter

Peter. Your kind words are always appreciated. Thank you.

Mr. Wilson and NineBall's questions

Mr. Wilson and NineBall's questions

1. I remember ChingChai that you controlled your skimmer bubbles and system water with your filter bags of 200 microns? Do you recycle them? If so how often do you clean them and with what? How long before you replace them with new bags? Are you happy with your water clarity?

2. How fast do you move the water over your Miracle Mud?. I realize that may be difficult to answer precisely but is it slow medium or fast?

3. Other than peppermint shrimp what else if anything do you do to control the growth of aptasia in your display tank?

That's it for the moment ChingChai, thanks for taking the time to answer our questions.

Peter & Shawn.

Hi ChingChai,
You have beautiful fish!
I have a question for you?
My new tank is acrylic and during cleaning operations known many micro scratches
How do you clean the tank ?........... do you have problems with micro scratches?

Ching Chai

Thank you for a truly wonderful video - I really appreciate you labeling some of your wonderful and rare fish.

As you say - we can only dream of such an outstanding reef environment.

Thank you for sharing.

I can see your side of things, but that coral is and has always been one of my favorite parts of this tank! It amazes me what nature can produce :)

Awe inspiring video my friend! A person could write a book on rare fish and would only have to stop by your tank to shoot the pics. I don't believe there is another tank on the planet that houses such an impressive collection of fish. Not to mention the corals, WOW. It is a true balance of awesomeness. The question is, how many trips to Japan were passed off as "business related" when you really just wanted to go score some awesome fish and coral :D
