dtum's Pragmatic Reef - 180 Gallons of Adventure

Yes, those 8 hours of blues include all 3 blues that are in Radion. All three channels are at 100 per cent, but overall intensity is at about 75.

Oh wow nice. Do you go 8 hrs straight only blues or split it like 4blues xxx all channels then 4hrs blues again?

Usually go for 8 hours straight.

So at what point do you run the whites? at the beginning or the end of the cycle and for how long do you run them?

Sorry for all the questions btw . its just that its an interesting approach and proven by you at that.

No worries, my schedule is 8 hours of all blues, then I run some whites for about an hour (usually the time when I am at home and can admire the tank for what it is), then it switches back to blues for about half and hour and goes into a night mode.

Another trick is - I do not run whites at a 100% (or any other channels), after numerous hours of tweaking, here's my magic formula to get an aesthetically good light from Radion Pro G3.

UV - 100%
Royal Blue - 8%
Blue - 100%
White - 41%
Green - 14%
Red - 8%

Try it on your tank, it is pretty awesome.

Thanks will do. I use AI not Radions but I can try those anyways.

Congrats on TOTM. Beautiful reef and thank you for the study in LEDs. Is the reason you run RB at 8% purely aesthetic or have you found another reason?

Thanks again,

Kevin

Aesthetic only. I don't care for the look when it is cranked up, but corals do seem to like it.

Thank you for being TOTM because I have read this thread more than 5x as well as your write up. It's so well thought out, informed, and helpful. I really appreciate your explanations how you implemented Radion G3 Pro's. Beautiful selection of fish, corals, explanations, and your videos.

I noticed that you run about 1 Radion per linear foot of the tank with the wide angle lens. Was it because of shadowing? How high are you lights above the tank?
