Dumb question about uv sterilizer

So with my used system it came with a turbo trist uv sterilizer and the bulb was old and didnt work and I can only find the replacment bulb online. Would this work? http://www.usa.ecat.lighting.philip...d/pl-s/pl-s-short-2-pin-base/927901882721_na/ its the right size, pin and watts? I'm just not sure if the bulb required is special or not. Thanks

looks like a 'regular' lamp...you need a UV bulb,

MarineDepot has the bulbs too, Just bought the 36 watt replacement bulb for the turbo twist. Ya has to be UV to kill the bad stuff!

They are not special. I got the coralife twist 36w and I get my bulbs for more than half off on eBay.

'SPECIAL' meaning that it has to be a UV bulb !

Well yes they are special in that they are UV but you can use any UVC germicidal bulb that is the correct wattage and pin configuration. I was able to source the exact same bulb I believe as the manufacturer for my Current USA 25W gamma UV unit. It's rated at the same UVC output and life expectancy but costs about half as much. Google for germicidal lamps and you will find many suppliers that won't have the aquarium hobby mark up. I don't believe there are a slew of companies out there that bother to manufacture UVC bulbs for our hobby. Rather, all hobby UV sterilizers are likely designed around readily available bulbs and all you have to do is find that bulb. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but this is my suspicion.
