Dustin's Deep Water Acro

A good friend is having trouble with his tank and I've been holding some frags of his, I've had the Dustin's Deep Water for about a month or so and it's been slowly recovering from bleaching.

Whoa, thought this piece was gone from the hobby. Do you know where your friend got it? It sort of resembles ORA Phil's granulosa as well, but can't really tell since it's a young frag

I'm confident it's the real deal, he doesn't buy anything without lineage. The frag has come back from near death and has slowly gained color, it's hard to get in the pic but one tip is gaining color. I can assume it'll be back to color in another couple of months.

im pretty sure ive got this or phil's, in a similiar situation, was barely holding on and is now coming back. too early to tell but I know its an old school and ora and has similar growth structure. If it takes off ill post some pics.

I hope it is the real ora dd because that is a very unique coral. I had mine for about two yrs before it decided to rtn and have been on the hunt for a long time:sad1:also one of the slowest growers ever.

You cant see it in the pic but the blue tips are just begining to show. Not a doubt in my mind that it's the real D's Deepwater.

Thats awesome then. :) This has become a rare piece IMO, so take good care of it. As soon as it can be, I would frag it so that if your friend loses his, you have a backup. :)

I've never seen this coral turn green like that. I have a friend that has a small frag of this and his is brown and grows sloooww! I hope you can get it to turn back to the original color and share frags down the line.

doesn't look like dustins to me. but corals can make such radical changes in color. would love it see it bounce back. gl

It's wired because I have two different frags that were sold to me as like 1/2" frags of Dustin's deep water and 30,000 leagues lokani. The Dustin's is painfully slow growing but is developing the same coloration of yours and the lokani is developing a tan and blue/purple axials coloration like the picture of the Dustins posted. Both placed in low light low flow areas.

Only time will tell, from all the other pieces I took in from my friend, they all went from pale green/white to bright green, most have regained all their original colors except for 3 frags, including the Dustin's. According to owner of the Dustin's it arrived to him with proper coloration.

BTW, thanks for pointing out how crappy of a photographer I am RANDY! :)
