it going pretty good. it's still alittle immature so i need the corals to grow out more. tell martin and micheal hi when you see them. i'm going to try to go to europe again sometime early next year with the wife. probably Prague or Spain, or whereever the wife decides, so i will be looking to see if i can find a few reefers out there to visit! :D

Good to hear all is going well. I will send your regards to Michael and Martin. Hope to see you again one day.

happy reefing.... J.W.

Thats great feedback on the zeozyme. Thank you :)

Your welcome Mark.

If I understood well the normal way to use it is to mix it with tank water and let it rest for half an hour before you mix it again. After that you dose it.

If there are high nutrient levels you let it rest for at least 8 hours before you dose it. Apparantly the addition of Zeo bak can increase the efficiency of Zeozyme.

In case of high nutrients you dose 1 teaspoon for every 1000 liters. The first day you dose 3 teaspoons for every 1000 liter and after that on day 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 you dose 1 teaspon for every 1000 liter. After the first week you dose 2 x a week the normal dosage. ( 1 teaspoon for every 1000 liter )

Hi, thanks !

I had ich once with my powder blue tang and a japonica tang.
The fish recovered without medicine.
It has been 3 years now and not a white spot. ( knock on wood )

jwre did you take any special steps in terms of water quality or diet when they had the ich? or did you just run the aquarium as normal?

Do you use ozone or UV?

The aquarium is truly magnificent!

Thanks again !

I took no special steps when the infestation took place. It went away by itself after the Japonica tang died. He was a constant stress factor. After that I just made sure all animals were eating well and that water param. kept stabil. I have heard that extra garlic sometimes can help.

I know that once you have it it will never go away. As long as you keep stress to a minimum it will not have the opportunity to affect the fish.

I don't use ozone or UV as it is considered counter productive in a Zeo system.

Thanks Nick ! I will try to persuade him. He is a very shy guy...

Water quality has improved dramaticaly since using Zeozym and reintroducing a sand bed. NO3 is 5 and PO4 is 0,03.

When looking from above I am stunned at how big some colonies have become...

Even some of the larger Aiptasia have disappeared. Sadly he also likes tube worms...

I lost some corals after removing my RDSB and changed to only skimming. Some corals have less corals and became brittle. I don't use a calciumreactor.
My next tank will have a RDSB again!

Beautiful tank and pictures as always. I still hope to come visit it sometime soon.

I do have 2 questions for you;
1) Have you had a problems with the rabbitfish and your corals?
2) I noticed you tank is 70cm (27") deep and you use the 54w T5 Powermodule. Would you have used the 80w if you were to redo the tank or do you think that 54w is plenty. I ask as I have a 30" deep tank and I am trying to make a decision on T5's myself.

Many thanks and things are looking great!

If i may answer: the tank is 250cm long.
The 80W is 150cm and the 54W is 110cm. The tank holds 2 fixtures of 8x54W and covers the tank fully in light. With 1 fixture of 80W the both ends of the tank would be dark. Unless you cover that with a fixture of 39W which is 90cm but then you have to buy 2 different types of replacements.
Regards,
Paul
Living 9kms from this tank :-)

Jwre your pictures are so Nice! The tank is absolutely beautifull!!!! The colors are stunning, I hope I can get my tank in this condition at some point.

Thirschmann,

FWIW, my tank is 30" tall and I am running 54 watt T5's in Tek lights. The tank seems to be getting plenty of light. I am going to be taking Par readings soon to make sure, but visually the tank seems to be as bright as my previous tank's that were running MH's.
