Dwarf Angels

If you don't have room for a 10 gallon tank to be set up once in a while (( doesn't need to be running all the time )), you are going to have issues.

+1. I can't imagine not having room to put a small quarantine tank (10-15g is enough for dwarf angels), even in a small apartment. Like MrTuskfish said, not using QT will EVENTUALLY cause issues, which could include the potential tank wipeouts that are often being posted on the fish disease forum.

I have a Bicolor in QT right now. Wouldn't touch food until 2 days after I started Prazi. Now it eats anything frozen like a little pig. Hopefully it takes to NLS pellets next.

QT is a must. Not just for treatment but so a fish can get used to whatever you are feeding in a stress free environment with no competition.

Hell you could even make a 5g QT work with regular water changes and a HOB filter.

You can de-worm fish (with Prazi-Pro) in your DT; that sure isn't a suggestion to try another Angel (or any new fish) without a QT. It just might be good for your present fish; if you see any fluke or internal parasite symptoms. This is about the only med that can be used in a DT and, IMO, all fish should be de-wormed.

I just put a purple queen anthias and a peppermint shrimp in my tank 2 days ago, they have been in hiding, the shrimp has molted but haven't seen it.

That fish has just an awful track record of survival.

Plus, I wouldn't add anymore fish until you can nail down what is going on with the angels.

What are your parameters -- with numbers please. It is a bit of a concern that the shrimp molted right away.

My clowns are doing fine I have a mated pair of percula clowns and a green chromis that have been doing great. The chromis I've had about 2 years and perculas around 4. Well as far as the shrimp I have to believe he molted that is all I have seen since I put it in tank. My ph is 8.2 nitrate 0 ammonia 0sp .021.phosphate 0. I guess I should say there isn't a place in our house that my wife will let me set up a qt tank.

I wonder if its possible that his DT has been contaminated by some disease that attacks Centropyge angels. In that case, he has real problems.
I had that problem with Coral beauties with my first Reef, that is, they seemed to do fine for a few weeks & then died. It seemed to do with an immature tank. My Bicolor is going on 2 years now. Fat & sassy. But definitely not a fish for a beginner!

Sincerely,
Matthew

Came out of my QT today. In acclimation box until the daylights kick off:

I had a flameback angel for 5 years. How long are they suppose to live anyway? Who knows how old they are when they were collected? I know one thing, they are certainly supposed to live for more than a month!

I had a Dwarf Cherub Pygmy In my Reef for 2 Years, went through an upgrade and I never Lost it.I ended up Selling it, Because it started to pick at one of my Acropora's.It came near death the day after I bought it, Because I woke up that morning an it was laying on the sand bed lifeless, but breathing! So I quickly threw a Big Airstone in the Tank, and about an hour later it was swimming like it never happened, the rest is history.I honestly miss the fish, and am considering getting another.Maybe a Coral Beauty, or a Potters, not sure yet.I am assuming it is still living today. They are beautiful fish!

My flame only lasted a day, but it was my first attempt at saltwater. I'm not sure if I added it to quickly or what.

Well I checked my parameters today and got a surprise, for about a year they have been spot on. Today ph was 7.8, cal was 400,po4-0, nitrate 5, ammonia 0,nitrites was 0, specific gravity was 1.026.

Nothing about those parameters should be killing fish. 7.8ph is pretty normal in the winter when your house is all closed up and 5 nitrate is nothing for fish. Test the water from your LFS fish system next time you buy one. Wouldn't be surprised if it was in the hundreds.

pH will be different each day depending on what time of the day you test at. Are you using a hydometer or refractometer to test for SG? For what it's worth I keep my reef tank at 1.026 anyway.
