Early Christmas

Where did you get the burgundy linkia again? Never seen one in person that color.

Got the Linkia at Aquarium Fanatics on Kirkman. Not my usual LFS but I popped in and saw them and really liked them.

Thanks guys.

Updated FTS. Pardon all the brown corals. Everything I had went brown when I changed tanks over. I also had several STN events that I has since stopped and reversed without fraging (thank god). I'm seeing colors coming back ever so slowly.

I am going through the same thing Charles, seems like something causes me to have a stn event when changing tanks/ establishing a new tank. Usually starts around the base with my sps, I have tried increasing the flow, checked for electrical and metal contamination, and did find points of introduction on where metal could have been contaminating the tank. Other than that, my new tank is my early christmas present, and I couldn't be happier! Hopefully Christmas and the New Year will bring me crazy coloration..... I am about 7 weeks in to the full blown Neo-Zeo system by brightwell aquatics, so far so good.... If I don't chat or see you before Christmas, you and your son have a good one bro!

Thanks guys.

Love the progress on your monster Pacific. Makes my nuckles ache watching.

Perry,
Interestingly, the STN stopped completely and started turning around right after I started dosing the AA's. May or may not have something to do with it.

From what I've seen and can figure they seem to be vital for setups like ours.

By GFO, bacteria, carbon sources of all types we strip the water so clean. AA's seem to really have a postitive impact.

Glad to hear, what aminos are you using? I am using Korralin, and also reefbooster vials once per week(prodibio). Are you using any carbon sources such as vodka, sugar, vinegar, or any other c-source products? I know you run GFO and GAC in reactors, if you are using c-sources, I would discontinue use of GFO... I am finding that you have to find the exact balance of nutrients, too much, frequent glass cleanings of filamentous algae. Too low, paling or slight bleaching of the corals. So, I have personally found that some level of PO4 must be present in order to attain this balance. BTW, you tank is so clean and pristine. Corals are looking nice as well. Keep up the great work!

I'm using the Zeo AA's. There is a really good chance I'll be buying the big bottle once this one is gone. I like what I've seen.

Right now I'm running GFO & GAC in the BRS reactor. I like the progress I'm seeing and I want to hold out and see whats the best GFO can do for me. I also have a RDSB and two seprate areas for growing cheato, one under my stand and the other in the garage sump. I've got the import part down (don't we all) but I'd like to increase export as much as humanly possible. If the water gets too clean I will feed more and continue the use of AA's.

I've been reading up on prodibio and VSV dosing and I have to say I am interested by the simplicity and economics of running a ULNS by baterial cultivation via carbon sources (jury is still out on the single vs multiple carbon sources).

All in all my corals are very brown right now (except for that AWESOME BN you gave me!) and I want my tank to stabilize and see some colors come in before I start making any changes.

I have done VSV and vodka, I really preferred the results of the vodka, maybe I was dosing too much VSV... Once you begin the c-source route, you will probably eventually lose the macro-algaes to starvation, so now you have a frag tank instead...lol... I have also used prodibio, in conjuction with a few zeo products and vodka too. I am still trying to dial in on the Neo-Zeo system, I have about 12 of there products now, and have almost gone exclusive to their line-up. I just got myself an early present today, a juvenile CBB... He is so cool, eating mysis within 15 minutes, already attacking aptasia...:)
