East Valley RODI Information

They Got My Number
Hey everyone, just wondering what everyone's TDS meters are reading straight out of the tap and post RO membrane (before DI). If you wouldn't mind posting the brand, model, and GPD of your membrane too that would be great!

Well, I'm NW Phoenix, not east vallet, but I am getting 475 to 500 out of the tap.

I run a Spetrapure Max Cap system, and right now, after running for a while get 2-4 pre DI.

I do not have softened water.

I have a spectrapure maxcap 90gpd. It comes with two meters and this is how mine is set up and what it reads. 550 pre membrane, 8 post. Next measurement is post maxcap filter at 0, then final product after DI silicabuster at 0.

Also no water softener.

I have a portable countertop RO unit, from a company called Pure Earth. I added a DI resin canister from BRS to it. The membrane is a DOW Filmtec membrane. It has pre and post carbon filters.

I am in Cave Creek. The tap TDS is 587. After the RO it is 15, after the DI it is zero.

I am in a rental and it doesn't have a softener unit. Once our house is built, I plan on getting either a Spectrapure or BRS unit, I am also planning on adding a softener.

A softener still not help your tds. It may help your membrane last longer but they're suppose to last about three years to begin with.

560-600+ out of the tap depending on crapy Johnson Utilities out here in San Tan Valley before we upgraded out water softner

450 tap 4 out of the membrane, 0 after Di spectrapure refurbished 90gpd unit fresh new updated with max cap membrane, generic sediment and carbon filters, and maxcap di resin ( I refill my self )

I have pre filter to the house with the 4 stage Kenetico Water softner this made a huge difference on how long the filters last for me.

In Chandler I'm at 635 out of the tap, 22 after a 4 stage RO unit, 0 after DI and I go through a crap ton of resin....

Adam, what part of your water softener reduces tds?

The link below is from the company that makes the tds meters on our ro/di units.

so not to hijack this thread but what is a good brand that is affordable but good enough to tackle arizona water?

There are many options, but if you wouldn't mind making another thread that would be awesome. Some people here are very passionate about their (local) brand and I'm certain that discussion would derail this thread!

On topic though, I'll be making some water tonight so I'll post my numbers too.

Just making some water now. 522 in and 10 out of the membrane. Air Water Ice Typhoon III 100GPD with the FilmTec 98% rejection rate membrane it comes with.

honestly I have no idea, I bought the Kinetico Premier Series and since then, my tds levels dropped. If I measure the tds from the outside hose bib vs the kitchen sink, huge difference. the house bibs are not connected to the water softner system. my sediment filter stays cleaner longer. and also Di resin last way longer.

nothing has changed other than the water softner system. same ro membrane, di resin sediment filter and carbon filter.

I found this info.......

Do water softeners remove TDS?

Water softeners do not remove TDS. Instead, water softeners work through a process of ion exchange. As water flow through the water softener, it will pass through a resin, bed of small plastic beads or chemical matrix (called Zeolite) that will exchange the calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions (salt). Therefore, the TDS level will remain virtually constant (there may be minor differences).
Water softeners are designed to "soften" water so that it washes brighter, rinses cleaner and feels much better.
Since a water softener does not lower the TDS level of your water, an additional filter may be necessary for your drinking water. The need for an additional filtration system is entirely dependent upon your source water. Always test your water to determine your needs prior to investing in a filtration or purification system.

I am in the far east valley and have a MaxCap feed water is 700 after membrane is 8

water pressure is critical, even though the companies say you can run the filters @ 40psi, I wouldn't run one less than 60psi. I run mine at 100psi

Our school is in North Phoenix.
Our Tap TDS is around 500, it swings up to 700 and down to 450 at times.
With 500 TDS into the system, I get 5TDS out of the RO.

This is a Bulk Reef Supply Spartan 300 GPD system. It has new 20" Sediment and Carbon cartridges. It has two new 90GPD high rejection Spectrapure RO Membranes. (These are supposed to be tested at 99% rejection)

Since my incoming TDS is 500, my understanding is that the brine/waste from the first RO membrane is coming out around 600TDS which goes into the 2nd RO membrane. So I would say I am getting AT LEAST 99% rejection.

I also just took some used DI resin and recharged it with Sodium Hydroxide and Hydrochloric Acid. Was an interesting process but the DI is running out at 0 TDS now, about 100 gallons so far.

i have a maxcap 90gpd unit its upgraded with a 2nd membrane and a booster pump i get 240gpd now. my tds 900-1000 tds in the summer in maricopa my tds after the membranes is 10-15 i do not have a water softener

I'm located off of camelback and the 51 and my TDS reads right at 400, my spectrapure unit brings it down betwen 3-7 ppm.
