Ebay live sand

First off I wanted to say hello and I'm glad to be apart of this community and welcome your expirenced advice very much! I'm new to the hobby and very eager to get started! My tank is a 150g with sump.

So to the point of this thread is live sand of course and wanted to see what you guys have to say about it and its source. I hardly buy from Ebay especially things I deem important or crucial to its function but I have spent the last month gathering up my equipment and supplies and spent A LOT more then I had planned and find myself looking into Ebay hoping to save on the last few things I need, sand being the last big thing... Dont trust what they claim and would rather believe a fellow member who has had actual success with it without problems if avoidable.

Here are two I was looking at, same seller but different possibly or if you know of a trusted seller please lmk.

I wouldn't. Of all things you want in a date-stamped bag from a good clean source...sand.

Last thing you want to do is skimp out on probably one of the most important parts of the tank..well worth the money to buy bags of sand from a well known brand like Carib-sea(only one I ever used)
Or go bare bottom

I've read to use even play sand which I think is crazy to do and others say live sand is a scam to simply get normal dry(dead)sand.... Aside from that you guys really think this eBay stuff is no good? If I have to I'll cough up the $ for the known brand stuff just assumed with so many stories any will do as long as it's made for aquatic use.

Carib-Sea live sand is basically $1/lb from Drs Foster and Smith. Free shipping over $50 as well. The $10 you saved isn't worth it IMO

I bought sand from this place, it was amazing. Little snails all over the place. The sand was moist on arrival. The sand was literally moving with life. I've only been in the hobby for a few years but IMO the eco reef sand Is great. I've never bought sand with so much life.
I've purchased bags of Carib-sea and all it seems to me is wet sand, no life at all.
This is also where my LFS buys there sand.

I actually messaged this guy before I purchased it and he gave me his number and we talked, he is a hobbiest just like the rest of us and he sells a great product.

Honestly I will never buy live sand from anyone else. If you decide to go through with the purchase you will be very pleased, and if your iffy with this product, buy a small quantity and see how you like it. (I'm sure you'll love it)

The sand looks a little too course to me, almost the size of crushed coral unless the picture is not accurate. Too large of a sand grain will lead to long term nitrate issues.

The sand itself is very fine,he does include a bag of coral rubble with every purchase which is probably the picture that you saw. I never used the rubble myself. But the sand is great.

Thats a great price, usually find it for around 2-3 lb but I read that a lot of people have issues with it being too fine, cloudly and hard to clean...
