Ebay MH bulbs

Good comparison. Just an update on the defective Plusrite bulbs. I sent them back and i am getting replacements from trust Deal. Also I ordered an extra lamp from him. he stated that he has a brand called Coral Blue. Anyone heard of Coral Blue?

Those were the second replacements he sent me. The ends broke on those. I was unhappy with the 10k look of the 14k Plusrite and asked for 20k instead and he said he was out of the 20k Plusrite so he sent me those. I have them sitting in my drawer as emergency bulbs. My Phoenix 14k were way bluer than the Coral Blue 20K and I consider the Phoenix 14k on my electronic ballast to have an icy blue look, not too blue.

I received my 4 new Plusrite 20k 250w DE bulbs last night, my second set. I popped one in my right side fixture, it flashed, then about 30 seconds to one minute later it fired up and looks great. This leaves me with 3 bulbs for 2 remaining fixtures. I popped one in my left fixture, plugged it in with a kilawatt to see how many watts my "new" ballasts draw, and after 5 minutes, nothing. So I proceeded to try the remiaining 2 bulbs in the same fixture, and nothing. The kilawatt would start at 10 watts and then drop to 1 and 2 watts. Does this sound like a fixture/ ballast issue, or is it possible for all three bulbs to be crap. The fixture worked the day it was delivered and once installed in my canopy.

Can't you take the one good bulb out of the first fixture and try it in the right side fixture? If the bulb fires then the other bulbs are bad and if the good bulb doesn't fire it's the ballast.

That is the next troubleshooting step. I worked 14 hours yesterday. Decided to sit down and drink a beer. I have to install 20A breaked and two new outlets for a buddy who is setting up a reef shop in his garage. Maybe after that I will swap'em out.

Under normal circumstances I would say the odds of it being three bad bulbs is slim to none and that it was most likely the ballast......BUT these are Plusrite bulbs we are talking about and it wouldn't surprise me if it was all three bulbs....:eek2: I mean I had my two original bulbs were bad and one from the second pair also.

Turns out I have a bad ballast or fixture. I swapped out bulbs which I knew worked and none worked in the fixture with the bad ballast. All four bulbs worked. Here are some pics of the two fixtures with new plusrite 20k 250w DE.

This is the kilawatt plugged into on of the MH fixtures.

thought i would post as i bought a 175watt 20k from hobbylighting. and after about 2 months it died. had a nice blue color but sad it lasted only 2 months.

I could use some help with the plusright bulbs from Trust-Deals. I bought 2X 150watt 14k and took before and after pics. I replaced 12000k bulbs that were a year old with some 14000k ones I bought from him. The color looked good for about 2 weeks and then it yellowed out and looks just like the tank did with the year old bulbs. The first pic is with the new bulbs on the left and old bulbs on the right, second pic is a few weeks later with both of his "new 14k" bulbs. As you can see the second pic looks just like the right side of my tank from the first pic. Lighting was identical, taken with same camera, nothing adjusted.

I messaged him and he offered to replace the bulbs and claims that doesn't happen. So I'm wondering, since both of the replacement bulbs yellowed at the same rate it either has to be the quality of his bulbs(since if its a fluke then 2 bulbs wouldn't have done it) or my ballast. Are cheap bulbs known to yellow out that fast(2 weeks)? or can a 5 year old magnetic ballast cause them to yellow quickly?

If anyone has bought his bulbs and experienced quick yellowing then I would know its the bulbs and not on my end.

I bought a 250w 20000k bulb from TrustDeals and love it! It is the only light on my 58g, and doesn't need supplimental actinics, but I'm thinking of adding some anyway :)

Got the bulb Friday. It fell apart on me and not because of shipping. the pins to insert it in fixture just snapped right off. The bulb also came with black spots on the innner glass. WOW

I just switched from 250w 20k Plusrites to Artemis bulbs. The plusrites were white, these are BLUE/Purple. I like these much better. I have to pics to upload and I will post comparisons.

This is what I wrote to LSE reguarding the bulb I got:

I recieved the bulb on Firday. However, the bulb had black blotches on the
inner glass plus it broke when inserting the bulb in the socket. I used very
little force. I would like a replacement or a refund if posible. Thanks

This was there Response:

Nick,

We have over 30,000 of these in stock, all have dark spots in the middle,
that’s not the issue.

Regards

Now It seems like I wrote somthing to **** him off, Is it just me or??
either way My issue was not addressed in the email.
