Ebay MH bulbs

I have been running PlusRites 175w 14k on our reef tank for the last few years. Have had no issues and coral growth has been good.

I am looking to replace 3 x 150w 20k coralife DE bulbs with some 20k plusrites but i emailed "trust_deals" and they do not have any. They said the ones they do have are "comparable" so i am looking. There is a local supplier that has them in stock but they are a bit more per bulb.

The 10,000K bulbs are white, no noticeable yellow tint. Like I said, they're great bulbs, but I miss the crisp white/blue that the 14,000K produces.

I know I'm resurrecting here but am curious.....are u running fluorescent actinics with them as I have two vho actinics running w my 10ks wondering if 14's will be too blue.

I am using two 175w 20K Plusrites with two UVL super actinics and two 48" Reefbrite blue leds and I love the color balance. Not too blue.

For me I need to get de bulbs, its seems plusrite is only se. Has anyone tried or use lee inc bulbs. Seems to be comparable price and they have de both in 150w and 250w. What do you think?

Let everyone know how the DE bulbs work out, color etc...

I'm still using the 400W 20K's and have nothing but good things to say about them. I replace them every 8-12 months just because they are so cheap and I can. I could easily get longer out of them i'm sure.

Was happy when you posted this as I have always likes the se plusrite bulb. But when they want $17 to ship it that's just insane. I will be spending $10 more and get the Phoenix

Anybody else have bulbs EXPLODE?

This happend to a few of my plusrite bulbs. Basically, if I had a short power outage I found the plusrite bulbs don't hot start and fry. They look nasty when this happens. THey can actually melt the glass they get so hot.

I installed a hot-start timer I got them online from a greenhouse company and that fixed the issue. The timer goes off for 10 minutes if the power goes out so the ballast can't immediately re-fire the bulb. Other than that, I have had good luck with them and have saved a lot of money.

Sadly that link that has the plusrite de bulbs doesn't ship to Canada. I did however just order from topdogsellers 14.35 per bulb for 250w 15K de. Three bulbs plus shipping and even exchange rate is still cheaper than one phoenix here. I will most likely be trying the 10k out as well, if these don't work out, then I will will try out LSE bulbs.

For the DE people. Read somewhere that lSE bulbs from trust deals on ebay where same as plusrite so I went for it for $26 shipped. And what arrived was a plusrite de packaged bulb that I am happy with so far. I went with the 20k and is a little less blue than the xde i was using.

I contacted a Plusrite distributor, bulbspecialists.com. She said they can get the 150w DE 20,000K bulbs from Plusrite, but she has to order by the case (12). Once all twelve are spoken for, I only need 2, she can order a case and ship the bulbs to the individuals. Not sure what shipping would be, but the bulbs would be $15ea, and for sure come from Plusrite. If anyone is interested, PM me so we can get together and have her get a case.

1000bulbs.com has Plusrite bulbs for around $15 each without having to worry about getting them by the case.
